And that’s a wrap on our final adventure of the season! Last week, we officially closed out the summer with Environmental Science Camp, and wow, did we go out with a splash! Our incredible campers didn't just learn about marine life—they got face-to-face and up-close with squid, fish, crabs, dolphins, and more!

A massive, wave-sized THANK YOU goes out to the amazing teams at Jennette's Pier, Nags Head Dolphin Watch, the Coastal Studies Institute, and the NC Division of Marine Fisheries. You all brought the ocean to life and showered our campers with unforgettable moments and an ocean of knowledge about our beautiful coast!

Also a special thank you to Ocean Atlantic Rentals for donating life jackets to DC Parks and Recreation for Thursdays boat ride!

FALL REGISTRATION is still OPEN!

If you haven't registered for our fall programs yet, don't worry! We still have spots available for:
👯 Dare County Dance Department
🌻 Youth Garden Club
⚽️ Youth Soccer
🏈 P*e Wee and Youth Football

Please keep in mind for most of our programs, registration is open until the end of day August 28th. Once registration closes we will be sending out more information. We are unable to do any game scheduling for soccer and football until we know exactly how many players, teams, etc. we'll be having this fall season.

Last week, Dare County Parks and Recreation hosted an exciting week of Non-Traditional Sports Camp! 🎉 Throughout the week, campers had the opportunity to step outside of their comfort zones and try activities they may not have experienced before.

From golfing at Holly Ridge Golf Course, taking on the ropes course at Corolla Adventure Park, and playing disc golf at Ace Run and Casey R. Logan Disc Golf Course, to fly fishing at the Old Bonner Bridge and ending the week with a fun-filled day at Jump Masters in Manteo, it was a week full of adventure, new experiences, and unforgettable memories!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this camp such a success. We hope all of our campers had as much fun participating as we did watching them try something new! ⛳🎣🥏🧗‍♂️

It's that time of year... We need to clear out our Lost and Found to make room before school is back in session! If you think you've left anything here over the summer, please come pick it up as soon as possible. By the end of day Thursday, August 20th, we'll be taking all remaining items to the local Hotline for donation.

Join us in celebrating a DCPR staff milestone! We’d like to give a huge congratulations to our Park Maintenance Crew Leader, Brandon Patsel, on receiving his 5-year service pin! Brandon manages the maintenance of parks and athletic fields throughout our community, and his passion and sharp eye for detail shine through daily. We are so lucky to have a team member who genuinely cares about keeping our outdoor spaces beautiful for residents and visitors alike. Brandon, thank you for all of your hard work and dedication over the last five years!
