Thursday Update:

Teacher-made exams for first- and third-period are underway today, with those exams in second and fourth set for tomorrow. Then it's on to EOCs and some of our CTE state exams next week as the year winds down toward the last day of school and graduation on Friday, June 5.

Tuesday Update:

– As feared, the weather in the Triangle tonight is not going to cooperate, so the Nighthawks will travel to Carrboro on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. start in the 4A East Regional Championship game. Good luck, Nighthawks!

– Also, check out this big news for all our students who want to cheer on the Nighthawks next year! Now through June 1, students can grab season passes to athletic events (minus tournaments and playoffs) for just $75!

Monday Update:

Due to concerns about the weather tomorrow, the Nighthawks are now scheduled to take on Carrboro at 4:30 in the NCHSAA 4A East Regional Championship game. Officials from the two schools will chat Tuesday morning about the forecast before FFHS hits the road for the long drive to the Triangle.

Carrboro, seeded No. 1 in the East, is 20-1-3 and coming off a 3-1 victory over Ledford. The Nighthawks are seeded No. 2 with an overall mark of 19-3-1 and bested East Duplin 6-0 to advance to the Final Four.

The winner of this matchup advances to the NCHSAA 4A Championship game, which has been set for Saturday at 2:30 at Durham County Stadium. Second-seeded Hibriten meets No. 8 Lake Norman Charter in the West Regional Championship tomorrow.

As a reminder, all four days this week are normal school days, with teacher-made exams being given during class periods Thursday and Friday. EOCs and other state tests begin next Monday.

Thursday Update:

Big news for our students about tonight's fourth-round soccer playoff game! We have had a very generous offer extended to allow our first 20 students into the game for free! Game time against East Duplin is 6:30, with gates opening at 5:45.

– We are excited to invite you to our 2nd Annual Academic Recognition Event, Cleared for Take-Off, taking place this Friday, May 22nd. This is a fun and meaningful ceremony designed to celebrate our scholars and highlight our school's commitment to academic excellence.

This year's theme is beach-themed, so we encourage everyone to join in the fun by wearing your best Hawaiian shirt or sundress!

This is a celebration, so parents and students, please feel free to cheer as loud as you'd like when your scholar's name is called!

Schedule for Friday (Early Release Day):

1st Period: 8:30 AM - 9:15 AM
2nd Period: 9:20 AM - 10:00 AM
3rd Period: 10:05 AM - 10:45 AM
4th Period: 10:50 AM - 11:30 AM
Grab & Go Lunch: 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM (Buses will run immediately following lunch dismissal.)

Recognition Ceremony Times:
9th & 10th Grade: 9:00 - 10:00 AM
11th & 12th Grade: 10:30 - 11:30 AM

During the ceremonies, students will be recognized for:

– Departmental Awards
– District Awards
– Honor Roll and Principal's List Distinctions
– Exemplary Attendance

Students will receive Honor Roll recognition if they earned a combination of Honor Roll and Principal's List during Quarters 1-3. Students who earned Principal's List all three quarters will receive that distinction.

Parents of students receiving departmental awards have already been notified. However, all families are welcome to attend and celebrate our students' success.

Tuesday Update:

We'll have images from the Senior Walk in the coming days! And congrats to the soccer team for advancing to the fourth round of the state playoffs with last night's 9-0 win! The Nighthawks play host to East Duplin on Thursday at 6:30 with a spot in the regional championship game on the line!

Also, today/Wednesday morning is the final chance to pre-order a copy of the yearbook before our distribution event Wednesday from 2:45 to 4! We can't wait to see everyone there to see the book, offer fun signatures, and enjoy snacks, drinks and music!
