The Kingdom Quest Begins! 🧚‍♀️✨ Friday, August 14th

Something magical is afoot in Killington… and it’s hiding in local businesses!

Join us for the Killington Kingdom Quest, a whimsical scavenger hunt that will send you exploring the Kingdom of Killington in search of fairy-tale treasures, curious characters, and a few surprises along the way. 👑🐉🗝️

Participating businesses have been transformed into tiny pieces of a fairy-tale adventure, each with a special prop, creature, or enchanted object waiting to be discovered.

Your quest is simple:

🧭 Visit the participating businesses
🔎 Find the fairy-tale item hiding within
📸 Take a photo and/or record it on your Quest Card
🏰 Complete your quest and become part of the story!

And the best part? There is no cost to participate. Just bring your sense of adventure, your sharpest eyes, and perhaps a little fairy dust in your pocket.

Whether you’re 5 or 95, every kingdom needs a good quest. So, pick up a Quest Card at a local business or at the library, grab the family, gather your fellow adventurers, and start exploring!

The Kingdom is waiting. The clues are hidden. The adventure is yours. 🧚‍♂️✨

Turn in your Quest Card to the Library before September 14 and qualify for a chance to win a prize valued at over $500!

The Sherburne Library is pleased to host "Vermont Movies? Why? And How" with presenter Jay Craven this Wednesday, July 29th at 6:30 p.m.

In this talk, Craven will describe working with actors such as Rip Torn, Tantoo Cardinal, Kris Kristofferson and Michael J. Fox and share the satisfactions and challenges that come from a deep immersion into place-based narrative.

Jay Craven is a long-time Northeast Kingdom, Vermont filmmaker, teacher and arts activist whose mission has been the advancement of community and culture. For five decades Jay has written, produced and directed character-driven films deeply rooted in Vermont and New England, including five films based on the works of Howard Frank Mosher. His latest film, Lost Nation, digs into the parallel stories of Ethan Allen and the pioneering Black Guilford poet Lucy Terry Prince. His 2025 film, George Bernard Shaw's Major Barbara, is now in post-production and he's planning a 2026 production that will be based on two stories - Henrik Ibsen's play, An Enemy of the People and Dashiell Hammett's noir novel, Red Harvest.

We hope you'll join us for this free event. Refreshments provided.

Someone left a gray cell phone at the library yesterday. We think it might belong to someone named Avery, though we aren't sure. If this sounds familiar, we would love to reunite it with its owner. The library is closed tomorrow, but we'll be here on Tuesday at 10:30.

If the owner sees this and is desperate to have their phone back, just respond to this message and I can make arrangements to have someone open the library tomorrow so they won't have to wait.
