🚦 TRAFFIC SIGNAL UPDATE: Route 3

Drivers will soon notice a change to the traffic signal on Route 3 at the Food Lion shopping center.

The signal will be converted to a flashing yellow arrow for permissive left turns. Instead of seeing a solid green light when making a permissive left turn, drivers will see a flashing yellow arrow.

What does a flashing yellow arrow mean?
➡️ You may turn left, but you must yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians before proceeding.

The signal timing and permitted movements will not change — only the way the permissive left-turn signal is displayed.

This type of signal may already look familiar to local drivers. It will operate similarly to the flashing yellow arrow currently in use on Route 3 at Walmart as shown below.

🚗 As always, please use caution, pay attention to the signal and yield when making a left turn.

Vehicle and driver have been located. Thank you everyone for your attention to this matter.******

🚨 PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUEST– HIT & RUN 🚨

The **Kilmarnock Police Department** is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in a **hit-and-run crash at Dairy Queen on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at approximately 7:45pm**.

Investigators are attempting to identify the **white GMC pickup truck pictured below** and the person who was operating it at the time of the incident.

👀 **Please take a close look at these identifying features:**

* **White pickup truck**
* **Stickers/decals visible on the rear window**
* **Sunroof**
* Distinctive wheels and other features shown in the attached photographs

📸 The attached images show the vehicle from multiple angles. **If you recognize this truck, the stickers on the rear glass, or know who may have been driving it, please contact the Kilmarnock Police Department.**

Even if you are not completely sure, **please reach out.** Information that may seem insignificant could help investigators identify the vehicle and resolve this case.

Our officers are enjoying spending time with families, catching up with familiar faces, and helping everyone have fun and safe nights at the carnival.

This week, Officer Evans of the Kilmarnock Police Department presented Civil Rights Movement History Training for Law Enforcement Officers at the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

The course fulfills Virginia DCJS cultural diversity training requirements and focuses on the history of the Civil Rights Movement to help strengthen relationships between law enforcement and African American communities through education and understanding.

We’re proud of Officer Evans for sharing his knowledge and representing Kilmarnock PD.
