Sad to report the loss of former WEAR photographer Al Showers.
Al and I worked on many stories over the years, but we shared a bond that stretched before both our time in Pensacola.
Al is a legendary reporter on the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he worked for WLOX for many years.
Bay St. Louis remained his home after moving to Northwest Florida.
I remember getting in an Uber when I was working in Gulfport, after we all got to talking about TV and whatnot the driver asks, “Man I remember the days when Al Showers was on the news here!” We joked for a long time about one day getting to meet the great Al Showers.
Not long after moving here, Al and I worked on a story together when he told me how he watched WXXV News and wondered I where was moving next.
It was an honor working together on many assignments.
The world will miss you, Al 🙏🏼
