WE MADE IT TO THE VOTING ROUND! 💙💛😭

Caiden’s Corner has officially been named a finalist for Best Local Non-Profit Organization in the WXXV Viewer's Choice Awards !

And y’all… for an organization that is barely over a year old, this one means A LOT.

In one year, we’ve watched an idea turn into sensory-friendly events, family support, community partnerships, autism education, advocacy, and our Mobile Sensory Unit rolling across the Mississippi Gulf Coast giving kids a safe place to regulate when the world gets too loud.

We’ve watched kids walk into events they may not have been able to attend before.

We’ve watched parents exhale when they realize they don’t have to explain.

We’ve watched businesses and community organizations ask, “How can we make this more accessible?”

And we are JUST getting started. 💙

Now we need our Ausome community to show up BIG.

💙 Today, we got to experience one of our Autism Acceptance Walk TITLE Sponsors from the other side.

Caiden had an MRI today at Ochsner Children's, and from check-in to heading home, we had such a great experience.

As a mom, I’m always paying attention to how people interact with Caiden, especially in new spaces and situations that can feel a little scary.

Today, we felt cared for, heard, and supported every step of the way.

It made me extra grateful that they are showing up for families like ours in the moments that matter.

Thank you to the entire team who took such good care of our guy today.

We’re grateful to have you in our corner. 🫶

Stay Ausome,

We cannot share the full news just yet, but we had to give you a tiny peek!

And a hint.. it's not our Santa's Sensory Workshop... that is already booked.

I’ve told this story a hundred times, but with the sadness surrounding Dolly Parton passing, I feel like I need to tell it again. 💙

In 2019, about a year after Caiden’s autism diagnosis, we visited Dollywood as a family.

We were still deep in that first season of overwhelm, grief, guilt, questions, and trying to learn what autism meant for our son and our family.

During our visit, Caiden needed a break, so we went into Dollywood’s calming room.

I sat in that room for well over an hour listening to my son repeat his ABCs.

Nothing fancy happened.

He did not suddenly say a new word or reach some huge milestone.

He simply felt safe enough to regulate.

For the first time, we were visiting a place that openly told families like ours, “You belong here, too.”

Inside the room was a notebook filled with messages from other parents. I read story after story about their children, their hard moments, and the number of times that little room helped save their family’s day.

I cried.

Then Caiden walked out regulated, rode the train, and had a fantastic trip.

I walked out changed.

I remember thinking, “Why don’t more places have this? Why don’t more people know our children need spaces like this?”

That room lit the first spark.

I started documenting what I was learning so other autism parents would not feel as alone as I did. That spark led me to propose an autism inclusion project with JA. We presented it at the very next meeting, ran with it, and watched our community welcome it with open arms.

By 2022, I had a bigger vision.

I kept saying, “I just need someone in my corner.”

That sentence became Caiden’s Corner.

Today, that small spark has grown into sensory-friendly community events, autism education, caregiver support, sensory resources, and Mississippi’s first Mobile Sensory Unit.

I share more of this story in my book, What Now, Mama?, but the heart of it began in one small calming room at Dollywood.

I don’t know what role Dolly personally played in creating that room. I do know she spent her life giving back, supporting children, and leading with love.

That is what our children need.

People who care enough to notice what is missing.

People willing to create a place where every child is welcome.

People willing to say, “You are safe here. You belong here. We’re in your corner.”

Thank you, Dolly, for the part your legacy played in ours. 💙💛

Stay Ausome,
Alyece
