We are in regular contact with Mayor Wayland Lafarge during this severe weather threat. Officers will be monitoring our local roadways for flooding and closures. If the public observes any high water or roadway obstruction please contact the police department at (337) 738-2600, our dispatcher will immediately contact the mayor and public works department, who are remaining on standby.

We recommend the public stay off the roadways in inclement weather conditions unless absolutely necessary.

All persons listed below are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

6/4/26
Xzavior Griffin of Kinder.
Arrested for Iegal Possession of Stolen Things, Criminal Trespass, Possession CDS Schedule II, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Charges are being ran through 33rd Judicial District Court.

Joseph Lebleu of Oberlin.
Arrested for Simple Burglary, Simple Criminal Damage to Property. Charges are being ran through 33rd Judicial District Court.

Erik Fontenot of Kinder.
Arrested for Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment. Charges are being ran through the 33rd Judicial District Court.

Jeremy Watley of Kinder.
Arrested on a Felony Warrant from Kinder PD for Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling Attempted / to commit offense, 2 Counts of Resisting an officer. Charges are being ran through the 33rd Judicial District Court.

If you were wondering about the heavy police presence in the 300 block of 5th St. this morning:

On May 8, 2026 the Kinder police were alerted to 2 suspicious males behind the rear of a residence in the 200 block of 5th St. Officers arrived at the residence and encountered two black males. One male starting running west behind other residences and ran into a wooded area west of 4th St. The other male ran south on 5th St. Alert, concerned citizens reported him running into Lambert Park. Officers observed the suspect in Lambert Park and gave chase, loosing the suspect in the wooded area north of the park. The suspect was identified as Jeremy Watley and an arrest warrant was obtained.

Today, June 9, 2026 observant citizens reported Watley standing outside his mother’s residence. Officers arrived made contact with Watley who ran into the residence locking the doors. After a very brief standoff Watley surrendered to officers.

NOTE: All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On June 6, 2026 at 8:20 AM a call came into the Allen Parish 911 center about a burglary on Pine Ave. Kinder Police responded and met with the complainant

The complainant explained she was driving and saw a small red SUV backed up to the front door of her house where her daughter had furniture and belongings being stored. The complainant went on to say when she drove up to the house a white male exited and told her he was there to do some work on the house. When the complainant stated the house was hers and she was not aware of any work needed but she would check to see if her daughter was having it done, the suspect jumped into the SUV and drove off.

While officers were giving a description of the SUV and suspect to dispatch, an Allen parish deputy working on a traffic stop saw the CAD (computer aided dispatch) system notes in realtime. The deputy informed Kinder officers the suspect had stopped at the traffic stop and was identified before being told to leave the traffic stop. The deputy met the Kinder officers and showed the in-car video of the traffic stop with the time showing minutes after the burglary call.

The Allen sheriff deputies located the suspect, Assistant Chief Marie Manuel went to interview the suspect who ended up being arrested. The suspect is being charged in 33rd District court.

The Kinder Police Dept. started using the interagency CAD system provided by Sheriff Doug Hebert, III last week. This is a prime example of the interagency communication working to serve the residents, deputies and officers of Allen parish better.
