Today was a full and meaningful day for Allen Parish Fire District 4 and our partner agencies.
This morning, we participated in an active shooter drill organized by the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Department Resource Officer team and the Allen Parish School Board. Robert Turner and Kenny Courville did a phenomenal job, along with many others, putting this together. The hours of preparation, research, coordination, and training that went into this exercise did not go unnoticed.
We had Kinder Police Department, Allen Parish Ambulance Service, Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jeff Davis Fire Department, and multiple agencies from across the area participating. The drill walked us through scene by scene what takes place during an active shooter event. From coordinated entry to medical response, every detail was intentional. The simulated shotgun blast inside the hallway was a powerful and sobering reminder of the reality we train for.
It was an outstanding demonstration of teamwork, communication, and unified command. Training like this ensures that if the unthinkable ever happens, we are ready to respond quickly, effectively, and together.
Shortly after the drill concluded, that training mindset became reality. We responded to a 911 call involving an injury at work. Allen Parish Fire District 4, Allen Parish Ambulance Service, Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office, and AirMed all worked seamlessly on scene. The young man was stabilized as best as possible given the accident, then transferred to AirMed and airlifted to a medical facility for further care.
We are wishing him the very best and praying for a full and speedy recovery.
Days like today remind us why we train hard, work together, and stay prepared. Proud of our team and proud of the partnerships we have across this parish and surrounding communities.
