IS NOW OPEN

NYS RT 9 is now open.

Hudson st is still closed due to a large tree against the bridge.

*****ROADWAY CLOSURE*****
NYS Rt 9 from the light in the Village of Kinderhook to the 9H off ramp will be closed until further notice. NYS Rt 9 by the Kinderhook Animal Hospital is flooded and totally impassible.

The Kinderhook task force (Kinderhook, Niverville and Valatie FD’s), Chatham, Stuyvesant, Claverack, Stuyvesant Falls fire departments and Valatie Rescue Squad responded to a reported structure fire on Wilkins Rd in the Town of Kinderhook. First arriving units found a heavy smoke condition with an active fire on the second floor of the structure. Interior crews located the fire and extinguished it. A quick response from all of the departments prevented this fire from spreading to other parts of the house.
Additionally we would like to thank the Columbia County 911 office for all of their help. The 911 dispatchers were handling multiple storm related calls during this fire and did an outstanding job.

According to local weather stations we are well over 5” of rain so far in this event. Water is extremely powerful, 6” of water can carry an adult away, 12” can carry a car away. If you don’t know the depth of the water turn around.

NYS RT 9 US NOW OPEN

Please avoid NYS Rt 9 northbound from the light in the Village Of Kinderhook to Stewart’s. We are currently operating on a large hydraulic spill that has half the roadway shut down. .

TRAFFIC ALERT
Tomorrow (July 4) the Village of Kinderhook Peoples Parade will start at 11:15. The parade will start at Rothermel Park, travel Eichybush Rd to NYS Rt 9, and will end at the Village Square. Be aware that Hudson St will be closed at 10:30 by the Kinderhook Library. Rothermel Lane, Eichybush Rd and NYS Rt 9 will be closed at the start of the parade (11:15) and all roadways will reopen once the parade ends.

Please avoid Rt 9 north of Golden Harvest. Niverville Fire Department is currently working in that area due to an accident involving a broken telephone pole.
