Make sure to honor, obey & stop when their red lights are flashing.

Even emergency vehicles going to an emergency must stop if the school bus’s red lights are flashing.

The King Ferry Fire District is soliciting bids for snow removal at the fire station, 1011 New York State Route 34B King Ferry , for the winter 26-27 season.

King Ferry Fire Department conducted “Providing initial arrival reports”

The training was conducted by Assistant Chiefs Bill Marsh & Matt Day.

Members learned/ reviewed:

Establish Comnand
Provide arrival report of presenting issue
Set Objectives
Identify Operating Mode
Investigative
Offensive
Defensive
Transitional

After the chalkboard session each member went to a separate room w/ a walkie-talkie & was shown a computer screen shot of an incident.

The member transmitted the initial size-up report to all the other members in the training room, who did not have the picture on the screen.

Once the scene report was transmitted, the member came back to the room, and everyone saw the picture of what the report was given on.

We identified the strengths and areas for improvement of the initial arrival report

We are in Zone 2, Yellow, slight risk classification.

Good morning, we are watching for the potential of some stronger storms this afternoon and evening as a front moves through. Gusty winds and small hail is the main concern with these storms. The Poconos may get several rounds of rain this afternoon so there is also a greater flash flood threat in that area.

King Ferry Fire Department was among the many Mutual Aid fire departments responding to a structure fire on Mosher Road, Scipio, shortly before 3:30 AM this morning.

Our tanker/pumper and a crew of six under the direction of Chief Scott Shaw, responded to the incident scene.

10 other members stood by at the station in the event of additional alarms in the area, as firefighting resources were depleted by the Mutual Aid demands of this incident.

King Ferry equipment & personnel were back in service shortly before 7:00 AM.

Shortly after 1:30 this afternoon Cayuga County 911 dispatched King Ferry Fire Department, Genoa Volunteer Fire Department, New York, & Southern Cayuga Ambulance to the vicinity of the intersection of New York State Route 34B and King Road, King Ferry for a reported two car motor vehicle vehicle accident.

King Ferry Firefighter Josh Shaw arrived on scene, established command, and determined there were adequate King Ferry resources on scene to stabilize the incident. Genoa Fire resources were canceled and returned to service.

Southern Cayuga Ambulance provided patient care, transporting one patient to an area hospital.

King Ferry Fire Department assisted a boater in distress on Cayuga Lake Saturday evening.

Cayuga County 911 dispatched King Ferry and Aurora Volunteer Fire Department for the “assist the boater” on Cayuga Lake in the vicinity of Clearview Road.

Two King Ferry members operating their personal boats located the distressed boater about mid-lake, a bit south of where Clearview Road terminates at the lake.

Persons on the disabled boat were un injured and did not need medical care. Aurora Marine 1 returned to service.

A line was attached and the boat was towed to a local Marina. The persons on the boat were able to make arrangements for an Uber to transport them back to where their vehicle was parked.
