Assuring that our equipment is up to s***f, King Ferry Fire Department contracted for annual hose testing of all our hose.

Hose testing involves filling all the hose lines with water and then increasing the pressure to a set pressure depending upon the hose diameter size. The pressure must be held for a specified period of time while the hoses is inspected for any leaks or damage. The hose line should not leak at all. Any length of hose that fail, the pressure test is removed from service.

Chief Scott Shaw snapped these two pictures of the operation from the sky above via his drone.

King Ferry Fire Department’s monthly training night consisted of checking over our EMS equipment for our EMTs and hydrant, hook up pump operations and hose line & nozzle operations for our firefighters.

Chief Scott Shaw also refreshed old members and trained new members on the use of the post indicator valve near the Catholic Church.

The valve is normally in the shut position, reducing excessive water pressures found to the West that would damage hot water heaters.

In the event of a fire to the west , once hose lines are operating, the valve can be openes so that additional pressure and flow are available for firefighting operations.
