Today is National Speech Pathologist Day, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate the dedicated professionals across our division who help our students find theirs. From mastering new sounds to navigating complex communication tools, our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) break down barriers to learning every single day. We appreciate everything you do!

Last week, King William County Schools hosted its Teacher of the Year, Retiree, and R.I.S.E. Award Banquet. During the event, we recognized each school’s Teacher of the Year and proudly honored Mrs. Brittany Funai as the 2026 Teacher of the Year for King William County Schools.

We also celebrated our retirees, including Ms. Kay Gammon, whose remarkable 41 years of service teaching in King William County is an extraordinary accomplishment. In addition, we recognized the retirement of our Superintendent, Dr. Charles Wagner, after 30 years of dedicated service in public education. Their commitment and leadership have made a lasting impact on our schools and community.

The evening also included recognition of Mrs. Rebecca Longest as the 2026 recipient of the R.I.S.E. Award.

We extend our sincere thanks to the families, friends, colleagues, and staff members who joined us in celebrating this special occasion. Congratulations to all of our honorees and retirees, and thank you for your dedication and service to our students and community.
