Throughout August, we have been spotlighting the importance of adaptive recreation and different ways that you can get involved!

Wendy Davis was a referee at the goal ball tournament at Overbrook School for the Blind. Players used weighted balls with internal bells and wore blackout eyeshades to ensure a fair competition. Overbrook School for the Blind frequently hosts goalball events that are organized by the Blind Sports Organization.

Interested in playing? Monitor Blind Sports Organization and Overbook Athletics Page’s calendar for upcoming events.

Thank you for following along as we highlighted the importance of recreation for everyone of all abilities and different events that were happening in the community that you could get involved in!

This August we have been highlighting different aspects of adaptive recreation, whether it is highlighting different events going on or different places to visit. Today, we are focusing on the Elk Country Visitor Center.

A few weeks ago, Wendy Davis took a road trip to attend several different events. She made a stop in Elk County and made her way to the visitor center, operated by the Keystone Elk Country Alliance, to get some work done and see elk. There are several different trails that visitors can take to see elk, and they are flat and made of fine crushed stone. The viewing platform is also accessible.

If you are passing through or live nearby, check out their trails and observe the elk!
