🌱 YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN GOD IS USING YOU TO PLANT A SEED 🌱

At Cornerstone Mission, members of our community will sometimes hire individuals from the Mission for day work—yard work, moving, cleanup, or other jobs. It gives someone an opportunity to earn a little money while helping a neighbor.

We have one wonderful community member who regularly hires individuals from the Mission when she needs an extra set of hands.

This past Saturday, she hired one of our guys to help her.

He went there expecting to work.

But God had something more planned.

While he was working hard, she was doing something else, too—she was planting seeds. She took the opportunity God gave her to talk with him, encourage him, and share her faith.

When he came back to Cornerstone, he was on fire for the Lord.

He told us that he had accepted Jesus and had been saved. He asked if he could start visiting churches so he could find a church home. Then he told us:

“I want to be baptized.”

What started as a simple day of work became something so much bigger.

Never underestimate the opportunity God puts in front of you.

Never underestimate a conversation.

Never underestimate an act of kindness.

And never underestimate the power of simply planting a seed.

You may not know what someone is carrying. You may not know what God has already been doing in their heart. And you may never know when you are the person God chooses to use in that exact moment.

Some plant. Some water.

But God gives the increase. ❤️

Today, we are celebrating a man who went out looking for a day's work and came back looking for a church home, wanting to follow Jesus and be baptized.

Keep planting seeds. You never know where they will grow. 🌱✝️

TODAY, OUR TEAM CRIED TEARS OF JOY. ❤️
For more than five years, our team has walked alongside a woman experiencing homelessness who has struggled significantly with her mental health.

There have been good days and incredibly difficult days. There have been times when she could engage in services and times when her mental health made that nearly impossible. There were times when all we could do was continue Street Outreach, provide basic needs, remind her that she was still welcome to seek help, and keep showing up.

And we prayed.

We prayed over her. We prayed with her. We prayed that someday the right person, the right program, and the right opportunity would come together.

Over the last year, we began seeing something change. She faithfully participated in outpatient mental health services and continued trying—even when the system was difficult to navigate and even when progress wasn't a straight line.

Then, about two months ago, another piece of the puzzle arrived.
Andrew Pritchert with Cornerstone Healing Center Clinical Outreach began working alongside us.

Andrew does something our community desperately needs: he shows up. He meets people where they are, builds trust, and works to connect individuals with the appropriate level of care—even when that care is somewhere else in Arizona.

For organizations working on the front lines of homelessness, that follow-through means everything.
Too often, we encounter someone in a serious mental health crisis, make the calls, send the referrals, and try to connect the pieces—only to find ourselves right back where we started. The individual returns to the street, and our team continues caring for them while we try again.

Today was different.

Today, after more than five years of engagement, setbacks, services, conversations, advocacy, and prayer, this woman was connected to the help she has been asking for.

And our team cried.

Not because the journey is finished. It isn't.
We cried because someone followed through.
We cried because she wasn't simply left to languish on the street.
We cried because after years of praying, advocating, and refusing to give up on her, there is finally another door open.
This is what partnership is supposed to look like.

Homelessness isn't always solved with a bed or an apartment. Sometimes, before housing can ever become sustainable, a person needs someone willing to walk directly into the complicated parts of their life and help connect them to the care they need.

Today, we are incredibly grateful for Andrew, Cornerstone Healing Center Clinical Outreach, our mental health partners, our Street Outreach team, and every person who continued believing that this woman's story could have a different chapter.

Most of all, we are grateful that she kept asking for help.
Five years is a long time to keep showing up.
But today reminded us why we do.

Never stop planting seeds. Never stop building partnerships. Never stop showing up. And never stop praying.
Sometimes the answer takes years.
Today, we got to witness one. ❤️🙏

Please Keep This Father and His Four Children in Your Prayers

Sometimes it isn't one bad decision or one unexpected bill that puts a family at risk of homelessness. Sometimes life throws one wrench after another until even the strongest person begins to wonder how much more they can carry.

Today, a father of four in Bullhead City is facing that moment.

Not long ago, he was working from home as a government contractor supporting the Army. He made a good living, and working remotely allowed him to care for his four children while also managing his own serious health needs. He is on dialysis, and his job gave him the flexibility to work around his treatments while continuing to provide for his family.

Then the civilian contract cuts came.

He lost his job and eventually had to apply for disability. Today, he is trying to support himself and four children on less than $1,200 a month.

He had SNAP benefits to help feed his family, but while hospitalized he missed his required interview. Since then, he has struggled to get those benefits reinstated. He has applied for part-time jobs that he hopes he can manage around dialysis and caring for his children, but finding something that works with his health and schedule has been incredibly difficult.

Then last week, his truck broke down.

This morning, after falling two months behind on rent, he received a five-day notice.

Last November, when this family first experienced a financial crisis, Cornerstone Mission was able to help with rent through our Homelessness Prevention grant. Unfortunately, those funds have specific eligibility and timing requirements, and we cannot simply use them again when a family falls into another crisis.

Today, this father wasn't angry with his landlord. In fact, he said he completely understands that his landlord has obligations too.

He is simply scared.

The words that stay with us are those of a father who said the hardest part is looking at his children and wondering how he is going to feed them. He has been skipping meals himself so there is more food for his kids.

Food is being delivered to the family today, but food doesn't solve everything this family is facing.

Through all of this, he continues to talk about his faith. He asked for prayer. He said he knows God is carrying his burdens, but he also admitted something incredibly human:

Sometimes it just feels like too much.

When fear starts taking over, he said he keeps reminding himself to return to his faith.

There are families like this all around us—parents who have worked, provided for their children, paid their bills and done everything they knew how to do. Then illness, job loss, reduced income, transportation problems and one emergency after another change everything.

This father isn't asking anyone to judge his circumstances. He is trying desperately to keep his children fed, housed and together.

Tonight, please keep this father and his four children in your prayers.

Pray for a door to open.

Pray for housing stability.

Pray for reliable transportation.

Pray that his SNAP benefits are restored quickly.

Pray for his health and for an employment opportunity that can work around his dialysis.

And most of all, pray that when this father feels like he cannot carry one more thing, he is reminded that he does not have to carry it alone.

Sometimes helping our neighbors begins simply by seeing them, caring about them, and remembering them in prayer.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

A Legacy of Faith, Love, and Compassion Lives On

In March 2012, Cornerstone Mission Project opened Diana's Faith House, our emergency shelter for women and children, through an extraordinary gift from local philanthropist Dr. John Lingenfelter. Dr. Lingenfelter donated the home in loving memory of his wife, Diana Ruth (Johannsen) Lingenfelter, whose life was defined by faith, kindness, humility, and a deep concern for the well-being of others. Just one month later, on April 12, 2012, Dr. Lingenfelter passed away, leaving behind a lasting legacy of generosity and service to Mohave County.

The story displayed alongside Diana's portrait reminds us that she lived a life centered on family, faith, and caring for those around her. Whether supporting her church, helping friends, caring for family, or quietly serving others without seeking recognition, Diana believed that love was shown through action. Her family remembered her as a woman with "a heart of gold" who was always willing to help others and whose greatest concern was the well-being of those around her.

Today, that legacy continues every single day.

Since opening its doors, Diana's Faith House has provided shelter, safety, hope, and a new beginning for 954 women and 271 children experiencing homelessness and crisis. Every family welcomed through its doors is a living testament to the compassion that inspired this home.

What began as one family's act of faith has become a lasting ministry of hope. Diana's Faith House stands as a reminder that when God's love is shared through generosity and service, lives are transformed for generations to come.
