🚍 COMMUNITY INFORMATION – KART YELLOW BUS ROUTE 🚍
Today we received information that the City of Kingman may be considering eliminating the KART Yellow Bus Route. We reached out for additional information, and it is our understanding that this may be discussed as an agenda item during the June 2nd City Council meeting.
From our understanding, the City is facing difficult budget decisions and potential cuts, in part because portions of the Yellow Route extend outside Kingman city limits into county areas, including toward the college area.
While we understand the reality of budget challenges, the impact of eliminating this route would be devastating for many members of our community.
This bus line serves many lower-income individuals and families who rely on transportation to access services that help improve their lives. We personally know elderly individuals who depend on this route for food access, doctor appointments, and daily necessities. This line also impacts women and children experiencing homelessness who are staying in shelter programs and working hard to rebuild stability and independence.
In addition, many individuals use this route to reach the final stop and then walk the remaining miles to jobs in the industrial area. For many people, this is not simply a convenience — it is their only connection to employment, healthcare, food, recovery services, education, and stability.
Transportation barriers often become barriers to every other service. When transportation is removed, access to opportunity is removed for many who genuinely need it most.
We encourage community members to stay informed and engaged regarding the June 2nd City Council meeting.
