Last Saturday, August 29th we had our Volunteers Appreciation Ice Cream Social at the Elks Lodge #468.

We forgot to take pictures πŸ€ͺ so here are some pictures from 2025.

Every year we have 4 events to Thank our Volunteers for their hard work.

In February we invite them to have Breakfast at some restaurant, the last three years it has been at Calico's who has given us a great deal, excellent food, and superb friendly service. At the breakfast we also celebrate Doris Hubb's birthday since she is our oldest volunteer at 93 years old. At this event we also recognize the volunteers that worked more than 500 hours from January to December of the previous year.

In May we have a BBQ at our warehouse. We grill some hamburger and hot dogs, and provide most of the food and drinks. The volunteers are welcome to bring some side dishes but it's not necessary.

In August we have the Ice Cream Social. We buy the sweets and the local Elks Lodge has been kind to let us use their social room for that for the last two years. It's our most deliciously unhealthy Volunteers Appreciation get together of the year.

During these three events we raffle a few gift cards, or gift baskets.

In December we have the Christmas Lunch at H4Church - Hilltop Foursquare Church Fellowship Room. We have been doing it there for the last 4 years and counting. It feels like home now. We cater the Christmas meal from Cracker Barrel. We buy presents for all the volunteers that attend the party.
At Christmas time Safeway has given us gift cards which we hand out to all our volunteers which are still working at that time.

The Kingman Area Food Bank would not exist without our Volunteers. They are the heart of our operations. And we are very super duper Thankful for them.

If you are looking for a place to Volunteer, come to check us out!! We are at 2930 Butler Ave. Kingman, Az. 86409.

Our schedules, contact info, what you need to bring to get food, donation page link, etc., are in our Website and some of those on our page.

FYI

The Kingman Area Food Bank operates under the organizational wing of St Mary's Food Bank.
Besides the food that WE purchase from different providers, St Mary's Food Bank sends us 3 to 4 and sometimes up to 5 semis/trucks with food per month. Including the Senior boxes and the TFAP boxes (the sealed boxes with the St Mary's Food Bank logo)

All the Food Banks affiliated to the program Meal Connect which is overseen by St. Mary's Food Bank are connected through an internet network. That affiliation is called "Partnership".

All the Food Banks have to enter in the LinkToFeed database the amount of food by Pounds In (what we purchased, what we received from St Mary's Food Bank, from the Food Rescue Program from local stores, from the food donations from our generous citizens, and from the food donations from any other organization), and the Pounds Out (the pounds of food we gave to our clients, the amount of pounds we gave to charitable organizations and churches, and the amount of food we give to local farmers, to animal rescues, and to local homesteads).

All the affiliated Food Banks have to enter in the Meal Connect data base the information of the clients every time they pick up food.
The program Meal Connect has all the information about the clients. The date when the clients signed up, when they picked up food the last time, the location where the clients picked up food, the people living in the households by name and date of birth, etc.
It also shows "who" entered the information into the system.

All the affiliated food banks have to follow the rules and regulations of St Mary's Food Bank, and the Food Banks are inspected every so often by the person assigned to oversee them.

SO

If a client picked up food at two or more "Partner" food banks within the last 28 days period, it shows in our screens, where, when, who, and at what time.

Many local pantries at churches and charity organizations are not "Partners" of St Mary's Food Bank so they operate under their own rules and regulations, they don't have to keep clear records of their transactions. They can if they choose to but the information is not entered in the St Mary's Food Bank database.

The Kingman Area Food Bank IS NOT and IT HAS NEVER BEEN a government organization. We DO NOT receive government money.

In every way we depend on donations. We are a 501C3 organization. We apply for financial grants from National Corporations, we also receive monthly, and/or one time financial donations from generous citizens and organizations.

We are located at 2930 Butler Ave. Kingman, Az. 86409.
Our contact information, schedules, requirements to sign up, official donation page, our 501C3 status information, etc are found in our website Kingman Area Food Bank. Some of that information is found in our page.

We DO NOT have a Facebook Go Fund Me. If you wish to donate please go to our website Kingman Area Food Bank.org or use the code.

Thank You!! We can't do it without YOU!!

Remember to lock your gates, and to bring and keep your pets indoors during the fireworks.
Many pets get so scared that they push gates open and run away. Too many pets get lost during these celebrations.

Also remember that fireworks are banned in the country, except for those provided by the city at the Fairgrounds.

Have a great Independence Day celebration πŸŽŠπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŽ‰ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡².

We will be closed on Monday.

Remember the price of our Freedom.
Remember the families and friends that are mourning and still missing their loved ones.
Remember the children who will never meet their parents.
Remember the spouses who will never get to hug the loved ones again.
Remember the parents who will never see their sons/daughters again.

Remember that this weekend is not "BBQ day" for everyone.

Thank God we don't mourn like those who have no hope. Someday, in heaven, there will be a happy reunion, but in the meantime, we honor those who gave their lives for our freedom.
