Officer McGinnis and Officer Carpenter had the pleasure of meeting with members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church this past Saturday to discuss the various frauds and scams currently impacting our communities.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Ms. Boyd and Mr. Gilmore for their kind invitation and warm hospitality. We truly enjoyed the opportunity to connect with everyone and share important information that helps keep residents informed and safe. Community partnerships like these are invaluable.

The Kings Mountain Public Safety Cadet Program recently celebrated the conclusion of another outstanding year with our End-of-Year Awards Banquet held at The Yard Sports Facility.

Cadets, mentors, and family members enjoyed an evening filled with fellowship, fun, and recognition for the hard work and dedication demonstrated throughout the year.

The evening included a variety of activities, great food provided by Chubby's BBQ, and a special awards ceremony where each cadet received a plaque recognizing their participation and achievements. Our graduating cadets were presented with a commemorative group photo signed by fellow cadets, mentors, and supporters, along with heartfelt messages and well wishes as they move forward in their journeys.

Two of our graduating cadets hope to pursue opportunities with the BLET Cadet Program sponsored by the Kings Mountain Police Department, while another graduate is interested in applying for a position with the Kings Mountain Police 911 Communications Center in the near future.

This year concluded with 13 active cadets, making it one of the most successful years in the program's history. We are incredibly proud of the growth, teamwork, leadership, and dedication displayed by each cadet.

Weekly meetings will resume in August 2026, and we are excited to welcome a new group of future leaders!

Are you Interested in a career in law enforcement, fire service, EMS, communications, or public safety?

Community Notice | Kings Mountain Police Department

The Kings Mountain Police Department is aware of a social media flyer currently being shared regarding a planned gathering in the Northwoods Community on Saturday, May 23, 2026. While we respect the rights of individuals to gather lawfully, our primary responsibility remains the safety and well-being of our community members.

Out of an abundance of caution, KMPD, along with Gaston County Police Department (GCP), will be proactively increasing our patrol presence and conducting additional checks in this area to help ensure public safety and maintain order. Officers will be continuously monitoring activity and responding appropriately to any unlawful behavior or safety concerns.

We are also aware that the gathering is being promoted as a graduation party. Based on information currently available, the event appears to be circulating through social media without a clearly established host location and with limited indication of organized adult or parental supervision. Gatherings of this nature can create safety concerns, particularly when large numbers of young adults or teenagers may be involved.

We encourage parents and community members to remain aware of their children’s whereabouts, maintain communication, and discuss the importance of making responsible decisions. If you observe suspicious activity or behavior that raises safety concerns, please contact Kings Mountain Police Department at 704-734-0444 or call 911 in the event of an emergency.

Our goal is simple: maintain a safe environment for everyone while continuing to serve our community with professionalism and respect.
