Things will be busy at our Kingsbury Town Hall Park from Saturday, June 6 to Sunday, June 14! Habitable Spaces will be leading workshops to construct a fountain out of ferrocement and teach you how to make tiles that will be used to decorate the new fountain! Come out whenever you can 11-5 each day to learn new skills and put you and your family’s stamp on our new park space! We’ll have assistance from visiting artists in sculpture and agricultural design. And then June 14, we’ll have a big BBQ wrap party and fundraiser, so come by to see what our volunteers have done!

Here’s a short recap of the discussions we had at tonight’s City Hall Renovation Workshop.
These workshops are held every other Tuesday, 6pm at 7571 Kingsbury Rd, the site of our future town hall unless otherwise posted. Our next workshop is scheduled for June 9 at 6pm. The public is always welcome, but the building is not yet ADA compliant as we are still under construction.

There will be a little clean up day at City Hall this Saturday, May 30 around 10 am if you would like to lend a hand. Fire Chief David Larison loaned us his dump trailer, and a few folks are getting together to load up some construction debris and downed tree limbs, etc.

While I’m talking city hall renovation, I just have to shout out Mayor Shirley! She’s done all kinds of work over there, but the windows! ✨She has personally worked on practically every one! She’s taken them apart, replaced ropes, rehung the weights, cut and replaced a zillion panes of glass, tons of caulking, fixed or replaced almost every latch! And a reminder, our elected officials work on a voluntary basis. She’s hardly even charged the city for her supplies. Is there another mayor that would do this??

Old school windows might not be the most efficient, but dang if they aren’t beautiful ❤️ This pic is from November. I’ll put a little video of this window in action in the comments.

Ah, I don’t know about you, but looking at this freshly painted entryway of the new town hall just dropped my blood pressure a bit 🥰 So grateful for the beautiful work being done by Nan Traina, Pam Short, and Abby Acuña! Nan and Pam are retired now but were professional house painters and have volunteered their skills to the new city hall! Abby is an expert at floor refinishing with clients like the San Antonio Spurs! We’re so lucky to have community members like these!

I think eventually we hope to fill this entryway with pictures, literature and materials related to the long history of our little town 🚂 Thanks so much y’all!

PS- This room is not quite done! A little more painting, and eventually a last coat on the floor. But the overall effect... I'm feeling it!
