The members of the Kingsbury Volunteer Fire Department extend our thoughts and prayers to Deputy Samuelson, his family, and the men and women of the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office during this difficult time.

We stand with our law enforcement brothers and sisters and keep all those affected in our hearts as they navigate the days ahead.

Tonight Kingsbury Fire worked on building construction while building a training roof for ventilation. We need some more materials to finish it up. It will be completed Sunday and we will start using it here real soon.

Tonight Kingsbury Firefighters and a Rookie from Kingsford Heights worked on removing a face piece from a downed Firefighter. We also worked on calling a Mayday and moving a firefighter to safety.

Keeping our skills up to better protect the lives of our citizens in town and township is our #1 goal.

Last night at training, Emma from La Porte County Health Department came and did a short stop the bleed class with our members. She also handed out small trauma bags for our members to keep in their personal vehicles.

Tonight Kingsbury fire department had Mike from NIPSCO at the station training on natural gas. He did a few demonstrations with natural gas an propane.

We train to sharpen our skills to be able to better serve the residents of Kingsbury.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Indiana, including the following
areas, Allen IN, De Kalb, Eastern St. Joseph IN, Elkhart, Fulton
IN, Lagrange, Marshall, Noble, Northern Kosciusko, Northern La
Porte, Pulaski, Southern Kosciusko, Southern La Porte, Starke,
Steuben, Western St. Joseph IN and Whitley and southwest Michigan,
including the following areas, Branch, Cass MI, Northern Berrien,
Southern Berrien and St. Joseph MI.

* WHEN...From 11 PM EDT /10 PM CDT/ this evening through Saturday
afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.

- Within the past three days, about 2 to 4 inches of rain has

Crews responded last night to the Family Express at US 35 and 400 S for a fully involved vehicle fire next to the building. Fortunately no one was injured and the building, while very close to the fire, did not become involved. Assisting agencies were Kingsford Union Fire Department & La Porte County Sheriff's Office.
