Keep your eyes on the ski tonight.
⚠️Severe weather is expected across parts of the region this afternoon and evening *IF* everything comes together. There are a couple "fail modes today".
-WHAT-
A very strong storm complex is expected to move out of Illinois into Indiana after later this evening after 6:00pm EDT. This complex (assuming it holds together) will be capable of potentially very strond winds of 60-80mph along with the risk for spin up tornadoes. Greagest confidence in severe weather is primarily North if I-70 today. However, this lime may still bring strong to locally damaging winds further South and East if it holds together. Round one mocing through IA and NW IL is expected to decay and weaken. If this round persists further than expected, it could impact risks later tonight. That is one fail mode or somthing that may alter risks a little bit tonight. Still too early to know, but is something to keep in mind as there are a few different scenarios possible today.
Another conditional hazard this afternoon is for the potential for discrete supercells across Northern Indiana. We have a very favorable environment and unstable environment today across the region. Any storms that are able to sustain themselves in the open warm sector this afternoon may be supercells capable of large hail and a spin up tornado. One "safeguard" is a lack of forcing or a trigger ahead of the main front. This may limit potential development ahead of the main line. Trends will be monitored.
The highest confidence in severe weather are for areas in red and pink. Areas in pink have the greatest level of concern for widespread damaging winds. Some could be destructive.

4:00pm through 3:00am tomorrow morning. This event will carry into the overnight hours.
-HAZARDS TODAY-
● Primary risk-Damaging winds - 60-80mph
● A couple spin up tornadoes
● Large hail of .75 to 1.75" (larger in discrete supercells of they form)
