Kingsford Public Safety would like to remind everyone that construction is ongoing on Hamilton Avenue. With school starting, please expect increased traffic, delays, and students and families traveling to and from school.

We also know the first day of school can come with a few first-day jitters for students, parents, and even drivers. Please slow down, stay alert, and be patient around school zones and crosswalks.

Give yourself some extra time in the morning so you’re not rushing or frustrated by unexpected delays.

Let’s work together to make the first day of school a safe and successful one for everyone!

🚧 Traffic Advisory – East Boulevard Closure 🚧

Please be advised East Boulevard from Carpenter Avenue will be closed today from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM to accommodate the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office Touch-a-Truck Event.

We encourage motorists to plan an alternate route and allow extra travel time during the event.

Come out and enjoy an afternoon of family fun, explore emergency vehicles and equipment, meet local first responders, and support this great community event. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

🎆 Fireworks Reminder for City of Kingsford Residents 🎆

As we approach the Independence Day holiday, Kingsford Public Safety would like to remind everyone of the laws regarding the use of consumer fireworks within the City of Kingsford.

City of Kingsford Ordinance No. 297 (Sections 24-150 and 24-151) allows consumer fireworks to be used only during the following dates and times:

🇺🇸 Independence Day
• June 29 – July 4: 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 p.m.
• July 5: Until 11:45 p.m. only if July 5 falls on a Friday or Saturday.

These dates and times are authorized under Michigan’s Fireworks Safety Act (MCL 28.457), which allows local governments to regulate the ignition, discharge, and use of consumer fireworks.

Please remember:
• Fireworks may not be discharged on public property, school property, church property, or another person’s property without the owner’s express permission, pursuant to MCL 28.462.
• Violations of the City of Kingsford ordinance are a civil infraction and are subject to a $1,000 civil fine.

Let’s all do our part to celebrate responsibly while being respectful of our neighbors, veterans, pets, and those who may be sensitive to loud noises.

Kingsford Public Safety recognizes and celebrates the retirement of Lieutenant Leland Crandall after years of dedicated service to our department and community.

Throughout his career, Lt. Crandall has exemplified professionalism, leadership, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to public safety. His dedication to protecting and serving the citizens of Kingsford has left a lasting impact on our department and the community he proudly served.

Lt. Crandall has been a mentor, leader, and friend to countless officers and staff members throughout his career. His experience, guidance, and sense of humor will be greatly missed within our ranks.

On behalf of the entire Kingsford Public Safety Department, we extend our sincere gratitude for his years of service and wish him a long, healthy, and well-deserved retirement filled with family, friends, and new adventures.

Congratulations, Lt. Crandall, and thank you for your service to Kingsford. Your legacy will not be forgotten.

Residents may hear gunfire in the area today as members of the Kingsford Public Safety Department conduct scheduled fi****ms qualification training.

This training is a required part of maintaining officer proficiency and ensuring our personnel are prepared to serve the community safely and effectively.

There is no cause for alarm. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation while this important training is being conducted.

As another school year comes to an end, the Kingsford Public Safety Department would like to wish all students a fun, relaxing, and safe summer break!

Whether you’re spending time with family, swimming, biking, traveling, or enjoying the outdoors, remember to make safety a priority. Always wear your helmet when riding bikes, buckle up in vehicles, stay hydrated during hot weather, and never swim without adult supervision.

We hope everyone enjoys the well-deserved break, makes great memories, and returns to school refreshed and ready for a new year.

🚨 Public Advisory 🚨

Kingsford Public Safety would like to advise residents the smoke visible in the area today is the result of a prescribed burn being conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in the Spread Eagle, Wisconsin area.

Prescribed burns are carefully planned and monitored to help manage vegetation, reduce wildfire risks, and improve wildlife habitat. Depending on weather and wind conditions, smoke may be noticeable in and around the Kingsford area.
