Did you know? Approximately 47% of children in Texas foster care are ages zero to five years old. 🚼

Children in this age group are more vulnerable to maltreatment and are unable to communicate as well as older children do. They make up the largest population served by CASA programs in Texas which is why it is so important to understand how to best support infants and young children as a CASA volunteer.

We were grateful to attend the first-ever Partners in Protection Conference with child welfare professionals from across Central Texas.

Our direct service team gained valuable knowledge, participated in leadership workshops, and strengthened our connection with partners who share the same goal: supporting children and families in our community.

CASA is proud to share this special community event from Chicken Express Burnet and Llano.

Rachael has been one of our dedicated CASA advocates, and she and her family have continued to show such generous support for our mission and the children and families we serve.

This Saturday, Chicken Express is celebrating “I’m Kind of a Big Deal Day” in honor of Richard Hausman’s life, legacy, and big personality. It is a beautiful reminder of what strong communities do best — show up for one another.

If you are in Burnet or Llano, stop by, grab a meal, and help support a local family and business that has poured so much heart back into our community. 💙

Today, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Tracy Knight as she completes her term on the CASA for the Highland Lakes Area Board of Directors.

For the past three years, Tracy has shared her time, leadership, and commitment in support of our mission to advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.
