🚒🔥 FIREFIGHTER SPOTLIGHT: ZANE NAGORSKI

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Zane Nagorski!

Zane has 3 years of total fire service experience, including 1.5 years serving with Camden County Fire Rescue. We’re proud to have him as part of our team and appreciate his dedication to serving our community!

When Zane isn’t at the firehouse, you can usually find him hitting the gym and spending time with his family.

Fun Fact: Zane enjoys skydiving! 🪂 Let's talk about taking “high-pressure situations” to a whole new level!

Today in Augusta, Georgia, during the Annual Georgia Fire Conference, the Georgia Fire Service held its 2026 Memorial Service to honor firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty, as well as firefighters who passed away during the past year.

We are honored to share that Camden County Fire Rescue Retired Captain Mark Lain was recognized during today’s memorial service.

Captain Lain lost his courageous battle with cancer on December 31, 2025. He fought a long and valiant fight, showing the same strength, courage, and dedication that he demonstrated throughout his career serving his community.

Today, we remember Capt. Lain not only for the battle he fought, but for the lives he touched, the people he served, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Rest easy, Captain. Your service, sacrifice, and memory will never be forgotten.

We recently welcomed Kristen, a Pediatric Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator from Wolfson Children's Hospital for a hands-on training session with our EMT class. We’re grateful for partners who share their expertise to help strengthen our local first responders and enhance emergency care in our community.

Halfway through our latest EMT class, and our students are doing a great job! 🚑👏

We never know what situation we’ll encounter when that 911 call comes in, which is why our EMT students must be prepared for anything.

Our students are simulating the extrication of a non-emergent driver from a vehicle following an accident at night. Using a K.E.D. (Kendrick Extrication Device), they are practicing how to safely remove a patient while maintaining cervical and spinal immobilization.

These hands-on scenarios help them build the skills, confidence, and teamwork they’ll need when it matters most.

🚒🔥 FIREFIGHTER FRIDAY! 🔥🚒

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on one of our own, FF Quincy McAfee.

👨‍🚒 Years of Service: 1.5 years
🚒 Current Position: FF/Engineer

When he’s not serving the community, you can find him spending time with his family at the beach. And lately, he’s been enjoying the classic creativity and calm of Bob Ross. 🎨🌊

⚾ What did you want to be when you grew up?
A baseball player!

⚾ Fun fact most people don’t know:
He actually played professional baseball against Mike Trout! Talk about a pretty cool story to have! 👀🔥

🧑‍🚒 Career advice for anyone interested in public safety?
“Bring an extra pair of clothes.” 😂

We’re grateful to have him on the team and appreciate the dedication, hard work, and experience he brings to the fire service.

Started by a lightning strike in a marshy area, making access difficult for ground equipment.
GFC helicopters are making water drops today to assist firefighters.
No homes or other structures are currently threatened.
🚗 Travel Advisory: Smoke from the Camden County fire temporarily closed portions of I-95 overnight. All roads have reopened, but motorists should continue to use caution wherever smoke is present and follow directions from local law enforcement.
Our firefighters, aircraft, dozers, engines, and support personnel continue working to contain both fires safely.
