✒️Behind the Book Festival: Author Features✒️

📚We have a variety of authors coming to our festival on July 18th from 10:00-4:00pm. From illustrated children's books to hard-hitting poetry about dementia there will be something for everyone to enjoy!

- M.L. Berry: This author is a retired GMC (Chief Gunner's Mate) from the US Navy, active from March 1970 to October 1998.
- Denise DiJoseph: This author is also an artist from Johnson City. As well as a member of the Lost State Guild and the Society of Children's Writers and Illustrators.
- Alex Gordon: This author writes romance. From romantasy retellings to paranormal suspense.
- Jane Hicks: An award-winning poet, teacher, and quilter! Her second book was named Poetry Book of the Year by the Appalachian Writers Association and was a finalist for the Weatherford Award.
- Barbara Arnold Linkous: This author writes Christian historical fiction inspired by her ancestors in the Appalachian Mountains.
- Felicia Mitchell: A poet who has also written scholarly works and creative nonfiction. She recently retired as Professor Emeritus after teaching 33 years at Emory & Henry College.
- Stephen A. Newton: This author is also an independent filmmaker and writes about the unexplained.
- Kaylin Render: This author is a career domestic violence prosecutor with over 20 years advocating for survivors and seeking justice for them. This is their debut novel.
- Nancy Wade: This author writes historical, mysteries, and western adventures. She is also a member of the Tri-Cities Lost State Writers Guild.

🌟Our Summer Reading Program launches on June 1st! 🌟

🏆We have special reward categories for ages 0-5, 6-12, 13-17, and 18+. Each of these categories offers unique prize structures and rewards to incentivize reading and make the Summer enjoyable for the whole family!

👶🏼The 0-5 age category features baby safe treasure box (no choking hazards!) felt and board books, and sensory activities.

👧The 6-12 age category features an exciting treasure box, a wide variety of books from picture books up to middle grade chapter books, and a variety of activity packs and bundles.

👱‍♀️The 13-17 age category features a treasure box with pins, dice, stickers, and more! They also have a selection of YA books to choose from as well as weekly raffle prizes including decorations, book sets, and more!

👩‍🦰The 18+ age category features a treasure box with bookmarks, pens, dice, and more! They also have weekly raffle drawing of gift cards to all your favorite local spots!

**UPDATE the computers, printers, and Hoopla are back up and running. Users may still experience some issues with Libby, but we are working to get it resolved.**

We are experiencing some technical difficulties at the library this morning.
Our computers and print/copy station are currently unavailable.
Our e-resources like Libby and Hoopla may also be down.
We will make sure to let you know when everything is back up and running.

We are so excited to see everyone for this author talk!

Hold onto your heart-patterned boxers fellow crawlers. Matt Dinniman – the author of the widely-popular Dungeon Crawler Carl series – will be joining us for a virtual talk next month to chat about his latest book – A Parade of Horribles.

The virtual talk will take place at 7 p.m. on June 11. Fans of Dinniman and the Dungeon Crawler Carl series can enjoy the livestream from home or watch it with us at the Kingsport Public Library’s Fort Henry Mall location.

The live viewing party will begin at 6:30 p.m. on June 11 with books available for purchase from Haven Booksellers. Free swag will also be offered to attendees to the library’s event.
