🚨CODE PURPLE AIR QUALITY WARNING🚨

Due to smoke from the Canadian wildfires, our area is currently under a Code Purple Air Quality Alert.

A Code Purple is issued when the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaches 201–300, which is considered Very Unhealthy. At these levels, everyone may experience health effects, while children, older adults, and individuals with heart or lung conditions are at an even greater risk.

Please do your best to limit your exposure outside, reduce any and all strenuous activity, and check on those most vulnerable to respiratory illness.

Reminder- while the air quality will continue to drop throughout the day, it will only be “improving” to an unhealthy level. Precautions may still be necessary for sensitive groups.

🚨 AIR QUALITY ALERT 🚨

Due to smoke drifting into our region from ongoing Canadian wildfires, air quality has deteriorated across portions of northeastern Pennsylvania. Hazy skies and the smell of smoke may be noticeable throughout the Kingston and Forty Fort area. Recent smoke plumes from Canada are affecting parts of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

To help protect your health:

• Limit prolonged or strenuous outdoor activity, especially if you have asthma, COPD, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions.

• Children, older adults, and other sensitive individuals should consider staying indoors as much as possible.

• Keep windows and doors closed and run air conditioning on recirculate if available.

• If you must be outdoors for an extended period and smoke is heavy, consider wearing a well-fitting N95 mask.

The Kingston Forty Fort Fire Department encourages everyone to monitor local air quality conditions and take the necessary precautions to stay safe until conditions improve.

🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸

Today, the members of the Kingston Forty Fort Fire Department proudly celebrate the birth of our nation and the freedoms we are privileged to protect every day.

As we commemorate America’s 250th year, we honor the courage and sacrifice of the generations who built and defended this country, while remembering those who continue to serve our communities at home and abroad.

Whether you’re enjoying a backyard barbecue, attending a parade, or watching fireworks with family and friends, we encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly:

* Leave fireworks to the professionals whenever possible.
* Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby.
* Never allow children to handle fireworks.
* Call 911 immediately if an emergency occurs.

From all of us at the Kingston Forty Fort Fire Department, we wish you and your family a safe, happy, and memorable Independence Day.

Happy 4th of July, and Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸🎆🚒

A special thank you to Forty Fort Council Member Cara Devine for stopping by Fire Headquarters today with several cases of water, electrolyte drinks, and a refreshing watermelon for our on-duty staff.

We truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and concern for the health and well-being of our firefighters and EMS personnel as we continue working through this heat wave.

As a reminder to everyone, stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and know your limits. We’d much rather see you during a friendly visit like today’s than respond to a preventable heat-related emergency. Stay safe and stay cool!
