FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Puck Cancer, Inc. Announces Final Event and Closure After 13 Years of Impact
Forty Fort, PA – August 13, 2025 – After 13 years of dedication, community spirit, and unwavering support, Puck Cancer, Inc. has officially hosted its final event. Founded in the summer of 2012, the nonprofit has been a cornerstone of fundraising and awareness in the fight against cancer, raising over $150,000 for the Medical Oncology Associates Prescription Assistance Fund in memory of Michelle Alberola Myers.
Co-founders Shawn and Lauren Myers expressed profound gratitude to the countless volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who made the organization’s journey possible. “Our volunteers were the heart and soul of every event,” said Shawn Myers. “Some have been with us since the very first summer. Over the years, we’ve shared in each other’s milestones—marriages, children, grandchildren, and loss. Puck Cancer wasn’t just an organization; it was a family.”
From its modest beginnings as a personal coping mechanism, Puck Cancer grew into an internationally recognized brand, with merchandise reaching all corners of the globe and supporters traveling from out of town to participate in its events. The organization’s influence could be seen everywhere—from the “Puck Cancer Drawer” in many homes filled with years of merchandise, to the joy of spotting strangers proudly wearing its apparel.
Shawn offered a special tribute to co-founder Lauren Myers, calling her “the absolute backbone of every single event.” Known for her quick problem-solving and unwavering dedication, Lauren became the go-to person when challenges arose. “She has supported this crazy idea since day one,” Shawn said.
The decision to close Puck Cancer, Inc. comes as the Myers family chooses to focus on what they believe is their most important role yet—raising their children during these formative years. “We are so excited for this chapter,” Shawn added.
In addition to thanking the community, Shawn extended appreciation to:
- Medical Oncology Associates – “For treating patients as people, not numbers.”
- Kenny Gill and the Quality Hill Playground Association – “For being a crucial part of our journey.”
- Josh Mera – “For ensuring our hockey tournaments ran smoothly year after year.”
- The countless volunteers throughout the years to ensure our events go smoothly
The Myers family closes this chapter with a deep sense of fulfillment, knowing their efforts have made a difference. “Mom, we did it. Jonna, we did it. Cioci, we did it.”
