Every year, the members of the Sawkill Auxiliary proudly set up the Field of Honor for Memorial Day weekend — a moving tribute dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

As the flags stand tall, they serve as a powerful reminder of the courage, service, and sacrifice of our fallen heroes. Thank you to everyone who helps make this tradition possible each year and to all who take the time to visit and reflect this Memorial Day weekend. 🇺🇸

During EMS Week, the officers and members of the Sawkill Fire Department would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to all EMS personnel for the dedication, compassion, and professionalism you show every single day.

Whether responding to emergencies, providing lifesaving care, or offering comfort during difficult moments, EMS providers are there when our communities need them most. Your commitment does not go unnoticed.

Thank you to all EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, first responders, and healthcare professionals for the sacrifices you make and the vital service you provide.

The officers and members would like to congratulate Firefighter Patrick Snyder, for successfully completing the BEFO and Hazardous Materials Operations Course. This is a 79 hour class. Thank you for your hard work. Congratulations.

Tonight’s drill was focused on auto extraction and training on our new Holmatro battery operated combination tool and cutters, along with using older tools too. We also went over the safety aspect when dealing with an auto accident.

If this is something you are interested in doing, we are always looking for new members.

This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. The officers and members of the Sawkill Fire Department want to take a moment to thank the Ulster County 911 Center—and especially the dedicated 911 dispatchers—for the incredible work they do each and every day. Your professionalism, calm under pressure, and commitment to helping others are a vital part of emergency response throughout Ulster County. We truly appreciate all that you do to keep our communities safe.

This Weekend, we hosted a VFIS Emergency Vehicle Train the Trainer, training. It was a two day class teaches personal how to become a trainer for operating an emergency vehicle. There was participation from eight agencies from all over the county and surrounding counties. Participating individuals, sat through a 8 hour presentation on the first day, and on the second day were required to set up the driving course and then were required to drive through it.

Thank you to VFIS and the agencies that took time out of there weekends to attend the class and make it possible.
