Evening,

Just wanted to give a heads up, tonight and tomorrow night our painting contractor will be in at 9pm to start painting the stop bars, stops, and crosswalks. The paint dries extremely fast, but if you see their truck and one of our Highway trucks please keep off the white paint. They will start the double yellow and fog lines in 2 weeks.

Also Wednesday and Thursday our crack sealing contractor will be back in crack sealing Evergreen Street, Clifton Dr development, Barbara Road, Sheridan Drive, and Prospect Street. That will occur from 7:30 am to 3pm.

I will send out an update within the next week with a milling and paving schedule.

Morning,

Just a heads up, we will have a tree crew on Parting Ways Road today. They will be cutting trees and limbs overhanging the road. This will help add sunlight to the road and also help the paving crew when they start in 2 weeks. We will have signage and a detail officer, please slow down especially through the curves.

Our crack sealing contractor will be continuing on Elm Street today. Then will be starting on a portion of South Street.

Thank you for driving slow around the crews .

Good Afternoon,

I just wanted to give a few updates on upcoming road work.

PAVING:

Our paving contractor T.L. Edwards tentatively will be in the week of August 24th to start milling and paving the following roads:

1. Parting Ways Road
2. South Street (from Rt.106 to Millgate Rd)
3. Pine Street
4. Sections of Rt.27 (areas TBD funding dependent)

Letters will be distributed to households on these streets a week before paving, and we will also place a LED sign board on these roads a few days before the work begins.

CRACK SEALING:

Our crack sealing contractor will be performing work on the following roads:

1. Elm Street ( South Street to the Plympton line)
2. Evergreen Street
3. Winthrop Street

This work will start weather dependent the week of August 17th.

TREE TRIMMING:

The month of September our tree contractor will be performing canopy trimming on the following roads:

1. Grove Street
2. Pembroke Street
3. Landing Road especially near the railroad bridge

This will not require large tree removal and the majority of the trimming will be limbs overhanging the public roadway. Depending on funds we may add more roads to the trimming.

A few other projects we are going to complete and start working on are:

1. Pedestrian and sidewalk improvements at the intersection of Grove Street and Pembroke Street (Rt.27) and Green Street @ the Library. These improvements will upgrade the sidewalks to be ADA compliant and add crosswalks with flashing warning signs. It will also tighten up the intersection at the end of Grove Street for pedestrian safety and traffic calming measures.

2. We are working to replace, add granite curbing, and resurface the sidewalks on Green Street to make them ADA compliant in width and curb ramps. This project may start in the late fall.

3. The town planner just submitted a grant for sidewalk, crosswalk, and drainage improvements on Main Street. This work will make the sidewalks ADA compliant and add a few more crosswalks along this stretch of road. We are also looking at a few traffic calming measures. Then MassDot is going to mill and pave the entire length of Rt.106. This project probably will not start until next Spring due to grant approval funding.

4. Town wide line painting will begin with the crosswalks, stop bars, and intersections the week of August 24th in order to get this completed before school starts. The center lines and fog lines will be painted around the week of September 14th. Line painting is all completed at night time so it does not delay any traffic.

We understand this is a lot in one post, if you have any questions about upcoming road work please call the Highway Department and ask for the Foreman Adam or myself @ 781-585-0513. Have a great weekend.

Please share the word to get more residents to participate in the parade and finding a really cool souvenir along the parade route!

300th Patch Scavenger Hunt!

Tomorrow is the big day, the Kingston 300th Anniversary Parade! To celebrate, we are giving away 5 free special edition anniversary patches to 5 lucky people.

Now, simply handing them out would be far too easy. So instead, we will be hiding them along the parade route for attendees to find! They will only be hidden in public areas, so please do not venture onto private property in search of these super cool patches.

Check back in the morning, shortly before the parade starts, for hints on where to find the patches!

Please share and join in watching!!
