Update on building closure:

The Highway Department building will be closed for the entire week to allow for proper cleaning and air purity testing after the spill Saturday. That being said we will be working with the IT department to get temporary offices setup in the Town Hall tomorrow. We are hoping to continue sticker sales on Wednesday in the Town Hall. The employees will be fully back on Wednesday to continue on road work. Thank you to the Kingston Fire Department for sharing a space for the employees to temporarily work out of. So please share, tomorrow we will be closed as we work to setup work spaces. There is no threat to the public, but we ask you stay clear of the building. We will send an update tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for your understanding.

Good evening,

The Highway Department will be closed tomorrow due to a hazardous materials spill that occurred on Saturday in the building . We are in the process of having Clean Harbors cleaning up the spill, and will be conducting an air quality test in the building tomorrow or Tuesday.Due to the material we cannot open for normal operations tomorrow, the safety of our employees and the public in the building is the upmost importance to us. We want to stress there is no danger to the public or surrounding buildings on the property. We are having a meeting tomorrow and should have a plan to when we can open up to normal operations. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for understanding. We will update as soon as possible.

Morning,

Just an FYI, so everyone is aware the 2026-2027 passes for the Transfer Station will be going on sale June 1st 7am at the Highway Department. We were trying to have an online purchasing system in place this year, unfortunately with the change in administration the system was not going to be ready by June 1st. We will have a system in place for next year so residents can purchase the passes online. That being said we have added a few weekends and a Monday night to help accommodate residents with busy weekday work schedules. The dates are as follows:

Sat June 27th 8am-3pm
Sun June 28th 8am-3pm
Sun July 5th 8am-3pm
Mon July 6th 3:30pm-7:00pm
Sun July 12th 8am-3pm

Please share, these will be the only extra dates on weekends to purchase passes. Otherwise they are on sale M-F 7am-3pm. Please if you can, come buy them early when they go on sale June 1st, it gets very busy here at the end of the month. If you do not have a new sticker on July 1st, you will not be allowed in the Transfer Station until you purchase one. We have posted the prices for the passes here, please have all your info and checks filled out when you get to the Highway Department to keep the lines moving. We have posted the new rules, regulations, and rates to the website. Thanks for your cooperation. If you have any questions feel free to call 781-585-0513

We just want to give a shout out to Steven Wrightington from No Fear Landscape Supplies in Kingston. This is the 7th year in a row his company has donated mulch for the back parking lot or the Veterans Memorial. It allows us to spruce up around the Memorial for the Veterans and the parking lot beds for the cookout. The town wants to thank this company for donating for such a special day year after year. 🇺🇸

The crew took advantage of the beautiful weather, they were executing training on the new Trackless machine. The machine came equipped with an 80 gallon water tank and spray bar,our previous machine did not have this setup. This will eliminate dust that is harmful for the environment and the machine. We will be starting street sweeping next week.

Few quick updates:

First we want to thank MEMA for sending us 3 dump trucks and 3 loaders to help with snow removal. Over the next 3 days you will see Vermont Trans trucks clearing intersections and widening roads.

Tonight we will have 3 crews working starting at 8pm. 2 crews will be widening roads and the 3rd crew will be cleaning the sidewalks near the High School and Elementary School.

Unfortunately tomorrow all town buildings and the Transfer station will be closed. Do to the severity of the storm we needed the transfer station employees during the day to clean up the roads. Also our top priority was to make the roads safe, then clean up the schools. Sorry for the minor inconvenience. Transfer Station will open back up for normal business Saturday.
