KINGWOOD FIRE DEPT (WV) Incident - Structure Fire - PELL RD, KINGWOOD WV

At 6:29 a.m., the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Reedsville Volunteer Fire Department (Company 9) with a structure fire.

Engine 56 responded with a crew. Upon arrival, Engine 56 established a water supply and laid approximately 500 feet of 4-inch supply line. Kingwood firefighters then deployed an attack line, conducted an interior fire attack, and completed an initial search of the structure, which was negative.

Firefighters from Reedsville Volunteer Fire Department, Newburg Volunteer Fire Department and Tunnelton Vol. Fire Department, and Kingwood worked together to bring the fire under control and perform salvage and overhaul operations. Crews remained on scene for approximately four hours.

We appreciate the assistance and cooperation of all departments that responded.

πŸš’ A Pair of Early Morning Calls for Kingwood Fire

While most of the community was sleeping, Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department firefighters were out handling two very different calls early this morning.

πŸ“… August 15, 2026

2:39 a.m. β€” Assist Person | South Preston Highway, Kingwood

KVFD was dispatched to assist a mother who had accidentally locked her keys inside her vehicle with her young child still secured in the back seat.

Firefighters were able to quickly gain access to the vehicle and evaluated the child, who wasTunnelton Vol. Fire Departmentall had a happy ending for everyone involved.

4:39 a.m. β€” Structure Fire | Senior Drive, Tunnelton

Just two hours later, KVFD was back out the door when Engine 56 responded with a crew to assist the Tunnelton Volunteer Fire Department with a reported structure fire.

Once on scene, Kingwood firefighters assisted with establishing a water supply, fire attack operations, and overhaul.

Crews remained on scene for approximately four hours before returning to Kingwood.

Two calls. Two very different situations. From helping a mother and child at 2:39 in the morning to assisting a neighboring department at a structure fire a couple of hours later, our volunteers continue to answer when called β€” 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We appreciate the dedication of our firefighters who gave up several hours of their early Saturday morning to serve our community and our neighboring departments.

πŸš’ KINGWOOD VFD ANNOUNCES PROMOTION TO ASSISTANT CHIEF πŸš’

The Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce the promotion of Captain Matt Borror to the rank of Assistant Chief.

Assistant Chief Borror has dedicated 27 years of service to the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department. During his time with the department, Matt has served in several leadership positions, including Lieutenant and Captain, and has also served two terms as President of the department.

Matt’s service to our community extends well beyond the firehouse. He has also served as General Chairman of the Preston County Buckwheat Festival, taking on another major leadership role within our community.

This promotion is well deserved and earned. Matt brings nearly three decades of experience, leadership, knowledge, and commitment to the Assistant Chief position. We are fortunate to have him helping lead the next generation of Kingwood firefighters.

With this promotion, the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department’s officers are:

πŸš’ Chief – Ethan Rouzee
πŸš’ Deputy Chief – Brandon Chaney
πŸš’ Assistant Chief – Matt Borror
πŸš’ Captain – Scott Bexfield
πŸš’ Lieutenant – Marshall Barlow
πŸš’ Lieutenant – Marty Borror

The department also voted to accept three new members β€” one Firefighter, one Junior Firefighter, and one Trainee. We will formally introduce and recognize those individuals in separate announcements at a later date.

With these additions, the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department now has 28 active members in our firefighter ranks.

Over the past 2Β½ years, KVFD has experienced tremendous growth, adding 10 firefighters at various ranks, while also welcoming back several members who have returned to active service. For a volunteer fire department, that kind of growth is something we are extremely proud of.

Growing our membership isn’t simply about adding names to a roster. It means more trained firefighters available when the tones drop, stronger crews responding to emergencies, more experience being passed down to newer members, and a stronger department for the community we serve.

That growth, combined with experienced members like Matt stepping into greater leadership roles, puts the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department in a strong position for the future.

Please join us in congratulating Assistant Chief Matt Borror on his promotion and thanking him for 27 years of dedicated service to the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department and our community.

Congratulations, Chief Borror β€” well earned! πŸš’
