Kinston High School Home of the Vikings
Kinston Tough and Viking Strong KHS Staff firmly believe the following statements listed. Every student has value and can learn.

Kinston High School staff and community is committed to creating a challenging, productive, and safe environment where students work together with staff and the community and strive to be competitive 21st century learners. Kinston High School's mission is to graduate students who are academically and socially prepared to function as productive members in a global community by providing a challengi

ng curriculum and opportunities to develop their talents and skills in a safe and nurturing environment. Education is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders including parents, students, staff members, and community members. School attendance, participation and involvement in extracurricular activities promote student achievement. An effective school provides rigor and challenges to all students. Professional growth of school personnel contributes to effective learning. Diversity promotes and broadens understanding. A safe school is essential to learning. Taking KHS to the Next Level is something we strive to do for our students. We increased our number of field trips, community activities, and overall life experiences for our students during the 2021-2022 school year and will continue this year as well. Band Competitions, JROTC trips and trainings, Community volunteer events, college visits and Student conferences are just a few of the opportunities provided for our students. For many of our students these events have led to other opportunities narrowing our students’ focus on their next steps after graduation.

KHS alumni and Tarheel graduates and students, Zenaida Bryant, Nicholas Harvey III, and Derrian Wilson, came to campus Friday to visit with our Seniors attending UNC-Chapel Hill in the fall. They brought a special gift and welcomed them to the Tarheel family.

Vikings take on DC! A trip down memory lane has our Vikings discussing important moments in history. What a fun and educational day as some of our Vikings take on the sites and scenes of Washington, DC. Special thank you to Kyonna Kelly, a Kinston High School alumnae for making it all possible.
