The holiday weekend may be over, but the Carolina Hurricanes gave fans a reason to stay loud a little longer after that Game 3 win last night.

Now it’s back to work running on coffee, leftovers, and playoff energy.

Today, Officer Grainger would like to remind everyone that Memorial Day is more than a long weekend.

Today we honor the brave men, women, and K9s who gave everything in service to our country and communities. Their sacrifice, loyalty, and courage will never be forgotten.

Please take a moment today to reflect, remember, and appreciate the freedoms and safety that came at such a great cost.

Meet Barbie.

Barbie’s hobbies include:
• Running full speed for absolutely no reason
• Turning every toy into her favorite toy
• Winning over every person she meets
• Looking innocent

Barbie has energy for DAYS and is always ready to play. She’s very sweet, good with people, good with other dogs, and fully committed to living life at 110% at all times.

Sgt. Stewart attempted to get a calm, professional photo with Barbie, but Barbie had other plans and approximately 47 zoomies scheduled throughout the day.

Meet Bingo.

Bingo’s résumé includes:
• Professional tail wagger
• Part-time lap dog despite being absolutely not lap-sized
• Certified snack detector
• Extremely suspicious of empty food bowls
• Will provide emotional support during naps, snacks, and bad TV decisions

Bingo is a very sweet pup who does great around people and other dogs. He’s got plenty of personality, a lot of love to give, and approximately zero understanding of personal space.

Sgt. Stewart attempted to interview Bingo for this post, but the conversation mostly consisted of “who’s a good boy?” and uncontrolled tail wagging.

Happy Birthday to KPD’s favorite four-legged officer, Grainger.

From helping brighten someone’s day to supporting our officers and community, Grainger has quickly become an important part of the Kinston Police Department family.

Today, we’re celebrating with extra treats, belly rubs, and probably a few well-earned naps. Happy Birthday, Grainger.

One year ago, Grainger was just a tiny puppy trying to figure out the world. Today, he’s grown into KPD’s favorite four-legged coworker, professional morale booster, and full-time attention seeker.

From puppy eyes to Hurricanes jerseys, classroom visits, community events, and helping officers through tough days, Grainger has made a big impact in just one year.
