Ten years.
In the fire service, ten years means countless calls in the middle of the night. Hundreds of trainings. More classes than anyone can remember. Long evenings at the station. Community events. Funerals. Celebrations. Victories. Heartbreak. Through all of it, one thing has remained constantโฆ
Jeremy Lee has always shown up.
The department has changed a lot over the years. People come, people go, trucks get replaced, officers change, and new faces join the family. But Jeremy? Jeremy is the stick-around guy. The kind of person who quietly keeps showing up, keeps doing the work, and keeps making Kirkland Fire better without ever asking for the spotlight.
If youโve ever walked into the station, youโve probably spotted him before you even heard him. Follow the glorious mustache, the unmistakable white Monster can, and the guy whose hands somehow always look like he just rebuilt an engine five minutes ago. If thereโs grease under the fingernails, odds are Jeremyโs been making sure our trucks are ready for the next call.
Heโs one of the finest engineers and apparatus drivers this department has ever had. When Jeremyโs behind the wheel, thereโs a confidence that canโt really be taught. Itโs earned through years of experience, steady nerves, and knowing the trucks inside and out.
Heโs also one of the most patient, kind, and gentle teachers youโll ever meet. Whether youโre brand new or have been around awhile, Jeremy never hesitates to slow down, explain something again, or help someone become better than they were yesterday.
๐จNOWโฆ weโd be lying if we didnโt mention a few ๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ important facts about Lieutenant Lee:
Food doesnโt stand a chance when Jeremyโs around. Buffets fear him. At the station, thereโs no such thing as left overs when Jeremyโs on shift.๐
Heโs our favorite โshort king,โ which also makes him the departmentโs preferred training prop. If someone needs to practice a carry, Jeremy somehow ends up volunteeringโฆ or getting โvolun-toldโ.๐
And that mustache? We still arenโt entirely convinced it isnโt its own member of the department. We donโt know what conditioner it uses, but the thing practically has its own glow.
Most importantly, when life takes a turn for the worst, Jeremy is exactly the kind of person you hope walks through the door. Whether youโre the patient needing help or the firefighter standing beside him, heโs calm, dependable, compassionate, and exactly who you want in your corner.
โจJeremy, thank you for ten years of hard work, leadership, friendship, laughter, and dedication to this department and this community. Youโve left your fingerprints, quite literally, all over this placeโฆ usually in grease.
Congratulations on an incredible milestone, Lieutenant. Hereโs to the next chapterโฆ and may your Monster stay cold, your mustache stay legendary, and your hands somehow stay at least slightly cleaner.
