To Wilhoit Fire Department Chief Information Officer.

On May 18th 2024 and again last night a serious residential fire here in Wilhoit was attended by our STELLAR volunteer fire fighters arriving first in order to control the fire and make sure the fire did not spread to surrounding neighborhood properties.

This is so important to have held the line until back up units from surrounding Fire Departments are able to arrive and assist.

This incident may come as a reminder for us all that enjoy life in Wilhoit, the importance of our volunteers, as well as the efforts of other volunteers in setting up and working on establishing FIREWISE with the goal of becoming a Fire District.

It really goes without saying we would not have our volunteer Fire Fighters and maintenance of their equipment without the annual financial contribution needed from every property owner.

Effective 23 July 2026 at 0800 fire restrictions are lifted. 

Following significant monsoon moisture and a reduced risk of wildfire, Yavapai County will lift its county-wide fire ban effective Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. The ban is being lifted for all Yavapai County's fire zones (1-5), which include the following cities and towns: Prescott, Prescott Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, Mayer, Cordes Junction, Black Canyon City, Congress, North Wickenburg, Peeples Valley, Yarnell, Wilhoit, Cottonwood, Sedona, Camp Verde, and all unincorporated areas.

This decision was made in coordination with our regional partners, including the Prescott National Forest, Coconino National Forest, Tonto National Forest, and the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM), who have also lifted fire restrictions. Recent rainfall throughout the county has increased humidity and moisture content in vegetation, leading fire officials to agree that conditions are appropriate to lift the current restrictions.

“This decision reflects the impact of recent weather patterns and the ongoing assessment of fire restrictions across Yavapai County. The lifting of fire restrictions is welcome news for our communities, but it does not signal the end of wildfire season. We encourage everyone to continue practicing fire safety, stay aware of current conditions, and do their part to help prevent human-caused wildfires,” said Ashley Ahlquist, Yavapai County Emergency Manager. “Wildfire remains a year-round concern in Arizona, and we encourage everyone to continue making fire safety a part of every outdoor activity.”

Residents are advised to check with their local fire district for any specific regulations that may still apply in their area.

🔥 STAGE I FIRE RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT 🔥

The Prescott Regional Communications Center would like to remind residents that our area will move into Stage I Fire Restrictions beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

These restrictions are being enacted by Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority and the Prescott Fire Department due to increasing fire danger across the region.

🚫 PROHIBITED:
• Residential burn permits — No new burn permits will be issued and all active permits will be suspended
• Use of model rockets
• Fireworks and pyrotechnics (unless approved through a fire department pyrotechnics permit)
• Outdoor use of fi****ms

✅ ALLOWED WITH CONDITIONS:
• Fires for cooking, warming, or campfires (ash or ember producing) are allowed at residences and approved Town parks if attended at all times
• Smoking outdoors is allowed only inside a vehicle, in a residential yard, or in a designated smoking area

Please help protect our community by following all fire restrictions and using extra caution outdoors this summer.
