Did you know that checking your skin regularly can help detect melanoma early?

Remember the ABCDEs of melanoma:
🟥 A – Asymmetry
🟧 B – Border irregularity
🟨 C – Color variation
🟩 D – Diameter larger than 6 mm (but can be smaller)
🟦 E – Evolving or changing appearance

If you notice a mole or spot that looks different from others or is changing over time, talk with your healthcare provider.

Early detection can save lives.

Today we celebrate Robin Dawson, our Director of Community Health, on her 2-year work anniversary at the health department!

Over the past two years, Robin has brought strong leadership, passion, and dedication to improving the health and well-being of the Adair County community. Know the signs - every minute counts.

During a stroke, every minute counts. If you think someone may be having a stroke, B.E. F.A.S.T.

B—Balance Loss

Ask the person if they are feeling off-balance or dizzy.

E—Eye (Vision) Changes

Ask the person if they have trouble seeing normally.

F—Face

Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

A—Arms

Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

S—Speech

Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is the speech slurred or strange?

T—Time: If you see any of these signs, call 9-1-1 immediately.
