Adair County SB40 Developmental Disability Board

Adair County SB40 Developmental Disability Board Mission - Engage in Advocacy, promote Inclusion and provide essential Resources. The Community Learning Center was opened in November, 2009.

Our mission is to engage in ADVOCACY, promote INCLUSION, and provide essential RESOURCES to assist people with developmental disabilities to live self-determined lives. Our focus is to support the uniqueness of each individual with developmental disabilities by supporting individualized service to meet each person's needs, choices and strengths. We encourage cooperation and partnership with other

professional agencies in order to provide a network of alternatives. We feel this results in healthy individuals, healthy communities and a healthy environment. The goal for the center is to serve as a springboard to the community and to help individuals learn the skills needed to have productive and valued days so that they can live their best lives. Activities center around 4 key areas: Life Skills, Recreation, Education and Training, and Vocational Exploration.

For others, NVDA serves as a free introduction to the wider world of screen readers. These users can determine if a screen reader is a good fit for them before purchasing a more robust option, such as JAWS.

The theme of tonight's service meal is evidently yellow 🌞 and, as Bob Ross would say, "what a happy accident!" 🎨 Gather at Our Table from 4:00-6:00 for great food and better company. This might actually be the happiest place on Earth! 🥰 (sorry, Disney)

We are hosting at the Family Connection Center our first monthly self care group called Strong Minds, Strong Families. We will be having it this month on Monday August 24th from 5:30-7pm. This new group is designed for parents who could use a little time for themselves! Come connect with other parents, chat about the importance of self-care, and enjoy a fun self-care activity together. It’s a great opportunity to relax, recharge, connect, and take some time for YOU—because taking care of yourself is an important part of taking care of your family.

✨ Free childcare will be available on-site! ✨

If you have any interest in joining or have questions, please feel free to contact our center at (660)280-3377 or email us at [email protected]. We hope to see you there!
