Kirkwood Parents as Teachers Your baby begins learning at birth. Parents as Teachers (PAT) can help you give your baby the best possible start in life. Call 314-213-6137

Parents as Teachers is a free and voluntary program open to all expectant parents and families with children ages birth to three, and also to specifically designated families with children ages three to kindergarten entry age, who live in the Kirkwood School District. In addition to home visits from your parent educator, your child will also receive a screening. The developmental screening will be

administered in your home by your parent educator and a nurse will conduct the hearing and vision screening in the Kirkwood Early Childhood Center. These screenings are for children up to age 3. We offer DIAL screenings for children age 3 1/2 to 5 (before Kindergarten entry). This is a complete developmental assessment along with a hearing and vision screening. There are limited dates and times. Please call the PAT office 213-6137 to schedule. Simply call 314-213-6137 to enroll, click on the PAT enrollment link, or email: [email protected]

4 Ways to Make Peace with Overwhelming Emotions https://buff.ly/ANijFxQ

It’s Monday… and for many people, that means Monday blues. šŸ˜”

Overwhelming emotions can feel like waves that might sweep you away. But here’s the truth. Emotions are temporary, and you can learn to make peace with them instead of fighting them. One powerful mindfulness tool is the RAIN practice:
• Recognize what you’re feeling
• Allow it to be there
• Investigate it with curiosity
• Nurture yourself with self-compassion

When you turn toward your emotions with mindfulness instead of running from them, something surprising happens. They begin to teach you, calm down, and lose their grip.

You don’t have to fear your emotions. You can learn from them. You can grow through them. And you can find peace, even on a Monday. šŸ§ šŸ’™
