We were pleased to welcome Nathan Baxter of Police Scotland, who is also a member of the International Police Association, to our agency. He toured our facilities and enjoyed exchanging coins, patches, and stories with Sheriff Blackmon and members of our team.

It was a great visit and a wonderful opportunity to build stronger friendships and camaraderie with our law enforcement colleagues from across the world.

K9 Murphy and Detective Suzanne Clouchete recently joined other therapy dog teams for the completion of a 24-hour Advanced Utilization Handler’s Course.

As part of the training, Murphy and Detective Suzanne completed the Canine Good Citizen, Urban Canine Good Citizen, Advanced Canine Good Citizen, and Novice Trick Dog evaluations.

The course gave therapy dog teams the opportunity to continue developing their skills and share experiences with teams from other agencies.

We’re proud of KNine Murphy and Detective Suzanne for representing the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and continuing to grow as a therapy dog team!

A special thank you to Highlands County Sheriff’s Office for hosting this valuable training opportunity!

GATOR DUTY: NO GATOR TOO SMALL

We received a call about a small alligator near a bus stop in Poinciana. While this little gator may not look intimidating, young alligators can pose a threat to curious children or small pets. Our Sergeant Drew captured the gator and released it in a more suitable location. Another successful Gator Duty call because no gator is too small to take seriously.

Today, our Flag is flown at half-staff in honor of Dolly Parton, a beloved American cultural icon whose extraordinary career, generosity, and humanitarian efforts touched countless lives. Her influence extended beyond music and entertainment to her lifelong commitment to literacy, education, and helping others. We join communities across the nation in honoring her remarkable legacy and remembering an American icon whose kindness, compassion, and contributions will inspire generations to come.

Today is National Dog Day, and we’re taking a moment to appreciate the dogs who make our lives better. In law enforcement, our connection with these loyal companions is especially strong. Our patrol and detection K-9s stand by us on every shift, helping keep our communities safe. We also count on our two therapy dogs, who offer comfort to people in crisis, support officers after difficult calls, and help build trust at community events. Their presence brings healing and calm to our work. Today, we thank every dog at home, honor the K-9s on duty, and give special thanks to our two therapy dogs for their compassion and service.

Our Juvenile Outreach Division visited Southland Christian School to meet the Junior Varsity Volleyball Team and share information about our L.E.A.D. Program (Leadership | Education | Achievement | Development)!

It was great to spend time with these young athletes, talk about the program, and share how L.E.A.D. brings young people together through sports while encouraging leadership, personal growth, and positive connections with law enforcement.

Southland Christian School is a proud supporter of the L.E.A.D. Program, and we appreciate their continued support of this important program and the young people it serves.
