☀️ Practice heat safety wherever you are.

Osceola County and Osceola County Office of Emergency Management remind residents to take simple steps to stay safe during extreme heat:

💧 Stay hydrated and take shade breaks when working outdoors.
🏠 Check on older adults, neighbors, anyone who is sick and those without reliable AC.
🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle. Look before you lock.
🌳 Limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and drink water often.

Stay cool, stay hydrated and look out for one another.

Sometimes, the Library Difference is about more than the books on our shelves. ❤️

A senior patron stopped by the St. Cloud Library to share her gratitude for the adult programs offered there. After retiring and losing her husband, with family living out of state, she found herself with more time than she knew what to do with and feeling very alone.

Through Library programs, she has found a place to learn, laugh, and, most importantly, make new friends. She told our staff that the Library has “filled a lonely spot in her heart,” and that while she always knew she could visit to check out a book and keep her mind occupied, she never realized the Library could also help keep her heart occupied.

Her words are a beautiful reminder of what libraries can be: places to discover something new, build connections, and find community at every stage of life.

We’re so grateful to be a place where our patrons can find more than a good book. Sometimes, they find their people, too. 💙

☀️ Heat Safety Alert Update

Osceola County is expected to reach the cooling center threshold due to elevated heat index values.

Osceola Library System branches will be available for residents who need a place to cool off. Water will be available at library sites, and LYNX will provide free transportation to cooling centers during this period.

Please note: Personal items are subject to search. Certain items may be required to remain outside at management’s discretion.
