The members of West Hills Emergency Services would like to thank everyone who attended our Guy’s & Gal’s Drawing this past Friday. We would also like to send a special Thank You to all the Local Businesses that were generous enough to be Sponsors for the event.

Tonite for drill Stations 250 and 60 went to The Bauer Company to perform a rescue demonstration of a person trapped in their cement mixer.

Prior to starting the rescue operation the mixer was locked out by qualified personnel and personal lockout locks were applied.

The drill first consisted of accessing the patient in a confined space, packaging them and lifting them from the space.

The work was only half done. The confined space was atop their cement mixer, approximately 50 ft above floor level. Crews then had to get the patient to the floor.

Rescue Techs then set up a high directional and used a steep highline with main and belay to lower the patient to floor level.

This was a great training opportunity in a real world environment, thank you to Bauer Block for letting us come and train.

Last Nite for drill was a a”Scavenger Hunt” Chief would name a piece of equipment and members would have to retrieve the equipment and explain or demonstrate its use. Also got in some maintenance of equipment.

Lastnite for drill Members from Station 60 met up with Team 330 and Station 260 for a joint Ice Rescue drill. Thank You to all who took the time to come train.
