Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer—it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day.

The Kittery Police Department extends our deepest appreciation to the families of our fallen heroes and to all who carry their memories forward. We encourage our community to take a moment today to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor those who never came home.

🇺🇸 We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

📞🚔🚒 National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 🚑📞

This week, we proudly recognize and honor the dedicated professionals behind the scenes—our Public Safety Dispatchers.

The men and women of Kittery’s dispatch center are the calm voice in moments of chaos, the steady hand guiding first responders, and the critical link between our community and emergency services. Whether it’s a routine call or a life-threatening situation, they answer every call with professionalism, compassion, and unwavering focus.

Our dispatchers work around the clock, often without recognition, ensuring that police, fire, and EMS personnel have the information they need to respond quickly and effectively. Their ability to multitask, think critically under pressure, and provide reassurance to those in need is nothing short of extraordinary.

To our Kittery Public Safety Dispatchers—thank you for your commitment, your resilience, and your service to this community. We are grateful for everything you do, today and every day.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

The Kittery Police Department, along with law enforcement agencies across the State of Maine, will be participating in Distracted Driving Awareness Month throughout April 2026.

The Kittery Police Department has received grant funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to specifically target enforcement of Maine's distracted driving and hands-free laws.

https://legislature.maine.gov/statutes/29-A/title29-Asec2121.html

Officers will be actively working to identify and stop drivers who are using handheld devices behind the wheel. This includes the usage of cell phones while stopped at a red light or otherwise temporarily stopped in traffic.

Distracted driving is dangerous and preventable. Putting the phone down can save lives-yours and others on the road.

Please drive safe, drive focused. Let's not meet by "accident".
