🚨🐾 When first responders answer an emergency call in Kitty Hawk, they’re not just saving people, they’re often saving pets too. ❤️

From house fires to car accidents, frightened animals can quickly become part of the emergency. That’s why the Eastern North Carolina SPCA partnered with the Outer Banks Community Foundation and Ocean Atlantic Rentals to help provide specialized animal emergency response Kits for public safety organizations across our community. 🚒🚓

These life-saving kits include:
✔️ Leashes & harnesses
✔️ Multiple size collars & muzzles
✔️ Water & collapsible bowls
✔️ Treats for calming scared pets
✔️ Quick-contain rescue bags for emergencies

🐶 In high-stress situations, having the right tools helps first responders safely protect animals while focusing on critical patient care. Every second matters for people AND pets. 🐾

🐱 This incredible initiative helps keep pets safe until owners or animal control can arrive, giving families hope during some of their hardest moments.

This morning members of the Kitty Hawk Police Department placed a wreath in front of our department in honor of the brave officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

The wreath stands as a quiet reminder that behind every badge is a life devoted to protecting others, and behind every fallen officer is a family, a department, and a community that will never forget them. We pause this week to remember their courage, honor their service, and reflect on the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers across our nation each and every day.

To the fallen, we remember you. To their families and fellow officers, we stand with you. 🇺🇸💙🖤

🚔 Honoring Heroes- National Police Week 🚔

This week, May 10-16, we join the nation in celebrating National Police Week, a time to honor and remember the brave law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, National Police Week recognizes the courage and dedication of our officers, with May 15 designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Join us showing our gratitude for the men and women who protect our communities every day!

In Washington, D.C., thousands will gather for events like the 38th Annual Candlelight Vigil on and the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service on May 15.

✔️ Don’t panic or swim against the current.
✔️ Yell and wave for help.
✔️ Stay afloat. Try to relax and float with the current until it weakens.
✔️ Swim parallel to the shore.
✔️ Once you no longer feel the pull of the current, then you can begin swimming to shore.

🚴‍♂️ Join us at the Kitty Hawk Police Department for our Kids Bicycle Safety Clinic on May 11th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. 🛑 Kids will learn important bicycle safety skills including helmet fitting, rules of the road, hand signals, and basic bike safety checks in a fun and interactive environment.🚦

🚲 This is a free event for children of all skill levels. Participants should bring their bicycle and a helmet to take part. We hope to see you there as we help young riders stay safe and confident on the road. 👮‍♂️
