Elder's Firewood Event Hosted by the Yurok Forestry Department and TERO

The Yurok Forestry Department, in collaboration with TERO, has planned the Elder’s Firewood Event to ensure elders have adequate firewood supplies as the colder months approach. Scheduled for Friday, October 13, from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Tulley Creek Wood Pile, both organizations strongly encourage community involvement to make this important event a success.

Elders are encouraged to send volunteers equipped with trucks if possible. Additionally, the department is reaching out to the broader community for contributions in the form of trucks, trailers, saws, mauls, and manpower.

Elders residing in the areas of Pecwan, Weitchpec, East, and South Districts who are in need of firewood deliveries can directly contact the department at 707.458.5668.

In a show of support and appreciation, TERO will be offering gas vouchers to tribal volunteers who are not affiliated with the Yurok Tribe in their employment.

This event emphasizes the joint commitment of the Yurok Forestry Department and TERO to the welfare of its elders and the strengthening of community ties. Your participation and support can make a significant difference in this noble endeavor.
