If you have to hit the roads late Friday night into Saturday be prepared to handle the impending dangerous road conditions. #StaySafeKC

01/14/2022

Well, we tried to create the perfect weather forecast that would allow you to just stay inside and relax this weekend. We hear there is a big sportyball game! However, if you must head out use extreme caution particularly tonight into Saturday morning as roads may become slick. In addition, precipitation is expected to start as rain in many locations and as temperatures drop and snow begins to fall there could be a layer of ice under that snow. Be safe and let's all have a winning weekend!

It is with profound sadness and grief that we announce the tragic line of duty death of Firefighter Benjamin Polson.

Firefighter Polson died while courageously fighting a house fire in the 5900 block of Cote Brilliante earlier today.

A fast moving winter storm will bring a swath of heavy snowfall from North Dakota into northern Missouri beginning this evening. Snowfall rates may reach 1"/hr at times, and travel will likely become hazardous.

❄ A light rain/snow mix is expected Friday afternoon across northern Missouri with rain chances farther south closer to Kansas City. Rain will begin to change to snow from north to south Friday evening through midnight Saturday. The steadiest snow is expected from midnight through 9 AM Saturday, before tapering off by early Saturday afternoon. This should be a fairly clean change from rain to wet snow without much freezing rain or sleet. KMBC 9

We're expecting some snow Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon, peaking during the overnight hours. Heaviest accumulations are expected in far northern MO along the IA/MO state line. Lower amounts are expected further south with between 2 and 4 inches for the KC area.

Confidence continues to increase for accumulating snowfall Friday night through Saturday, especially across portions of northern Missouri where the best chance for several inches of snowfall is possible. The forecast will continue to be refined as the event approaches.

I want to thank the officer who stopped me this morning. I was acting like a JACKWAGON because I was stopped. He was calm, cool and collected. He could sense my frustration and talked me down into a conversation and not me being argumentative. Great job dealing with this JACKWAGON when I was in the wrong! By JACKWAGON, I mean .... 😉 I respect what you all do for our Community and wish you many blessings as you work to keep us safe.
