It’s TBT time!
With June fast approaching and the hay fields are nearly ready to start harvesting it seemed fitting to call back to fixing the old round baler.
This relic of a picture is actually from the summer of 2000! Over the years the equipment got newer but the farmer has gotten older. Even the newer equipment breaks down from time to time and is more expensive to fix these days than it was way back when.

Maintaining equipment can be tedious and time consuming but it is still important work that needs to be done on the farm. Without equipment like a baler, haybine,rake, and tractors we would not be able to harvest our certified organic hay crop that feeds our cattle during the winter months.
What our cows eat is just as important as what we eat to stay strong and healthy.

Introducing Harriet.
Born in mid April of this year Harriet is a pretty heifer calf. She was awarded her name for the Harry Potter-esque lightning bolt blaze on her face.
She will certainly be a contender for staying with us to be a future momma.

This precious baby’s name was Bambi. She was a daughter of one of our very first beef cows, a Hereford named Honey. As a family and a farm we have come a long way since first starting our journey in agriculture 34 years ago! For all the bumps, changes and growths we’ve encountered along the way, some things are very much the same.
Our cows are still loved, respected and cared for daily. They still live their best bovine life grazing naturally kept pastures of native grasses, drinking fresh, clean water and loafing about chewing their cud in the heat of the afternoons as a happy and healthy herd. Spring is still our preferred season for new born calves. Many of our cows still have names. All the beef we eat and all the beef we sell is born, raised and finished in our care and on our farm in Pennsylvania. No antibiotics, no hormones, no chemicals. Just healthy, all natural, organic, local beef.
