As I close this chapter, I simply want to say thank you.

It has been the honor of my lifetime to have served as Sheriff of Knox County and alongside the incredible men and women of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

To the citizens of Knox County, thank you for placing your trust in me. I have never taken that responsibility lightly, and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity you gave me to serve.

There have been good days, difficult days and days we will never forget. Through them all, I have been reminded that faith, family and service are what matter most.

Knox County will always be home, and the KCSO family will always hold a special place in my heart.

May God bless each of you, may God bless the men and women of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and may God continue to bless Knox County.

KCSO MISSING PERSON ALERT-

August 25, 2026

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 36-year-old Maleaya Taboaba.

Maleaya was last seen leaving the Halls Community Park ball fields on August 24, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m. She stated she was driving home; however, she did not arrive at the residence.

Maleaya is believed to be driving a silver 2013 Nissan Rogue bearing Tennessee registration 654BSHZ.

Anyone who sees Maleaya or the vehicle is asked to check her welfare and immediately contact the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Records Division.

Please share to help us locate Maleaya and ensure she is safe.

Our handsome boy Diego is celebrating his 6th birthday today, but he’s feeling a little down in the dumps. 😌

Diego is currently dealing with the K-9 equivalent of a torn ACL, so instead of running, working and playing like he’d rather be doing, he’s having to take it easy and focus on getting better. ❤️‍🩹🐕

We think our birthday boy could use a little extra love today!

Help us wish K-9 Diego a VERY Happy 6th Birthday and send him some get-well wishes while he’s on the mend!

For the last six years, Dolly 💫has been helping keep Knox County safe, and she’s done an amazing job! From tracking down suspects to finding evidence, she’s always ready to go to work right alongside her handler.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office K9 Ricky to get donation of body armor

Knox County Sheriff’s Office, TN - K9 Ricky will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Ricky’s vest was sponsored by Karen McAllister of Colorado Springs, CO and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Honoring those who served and sacrificed”. Delivery is expected within ten weeks.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,603 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old, actively employed, and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1800.00, weighs an average of 4-5 lbs., and comes with a five-year warranty. For more information, or to learn about volunteer opportunities, please call (508) 824-6978.
