Today our second graders walked the halls of West Elementary one last time as second grade students, all the while to the cheers and congratulations from their peers and teachers. 🖤💛

It’s hard to believe how much they’ve grown this year — not just in reading, writing, and math, but in kindness, confidence, and friendship too. We are so proud of each and every one of them!

Northstar is lucky to be getting this amazing group of kids, and we know they’re going to go do GREAT things in third grade! ⭐️

Joining our second grade students on their "last walk through West" were two of our second grade teachers - Mrs. Foster and Mrs. Leedom. We celebrate them and their years of serving, teaching, and loving students. Congratulations on a career well lived, ladies! Enjoy your retirement! You've earned every minute ahead of you!!

Our first and second graders enjoyed a very special “farm day” on Friday put on by our High School FFA students. They did an amazing job of teaching our students all about farm animals! Then, as a special surprise, they shared some very cute animals with us! ❤️ Chicks, ducks, bunnies, and a super sweet golden doodle came ready for snuggles (and they found them)!

Thanks to Tiffany Johnston for setting this up for us - it was a perfect way to spend our afternoon!

It was a great day to be a kindergartener at West Elementary! The weather may have ruined “plan A” but look at all of the fun these students had today as they enjoyed various stations around the school!

Many thanks to the numerous volunteers to came in to teach or read or just to help … you are invaluable to us!! Another big thanks to Fareway for providing a hot dog lunch for our students - we’re so thankful for your generosity!

Today was Marion County Park Day for our second graders! The cold and mud couldn’t keep these students from learning all about our local history and exploring the many historic buildings on site.

A huge thank you to the PTO for sponsoring this field trip — we had a wonderful time and learned so many interesting things!

We encourage you to take your family for a visit this summer! The park will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 1–5 PM after Memorial Day.

A big thank you to Connie Davids and the Knoxville public library for taking time to visit our classrooms to share some books, some fossils, and a song with each of our classrooms - one last time before summer vacation!! ☀️ Grown ups, be watching your student’s backpacks for information on the library’s summer reading program!! Our library puts on fun events all summer long as well as offers piles and piles of prizes for your students - all they have to do is read!!

Thanks for investing in our littlest learners, Knoxville! 📕 📚
