The quarter 1 STEAM Integration projects are arriving at Claxton! After reading the book, “Gifts from the Garbage Truck,” students were challenged to take a piece of garbage and recycle it into something new. CES STEAM supply boxes have been sent home with each student. You can use those materials to help build your project.
Projects are due September 11th.

Tonight, the Anderson County Board of Education proudly honored Jo Williams for nearly 40 years of dedicated and distinguished service to Anderson County Schools.

Jo first served for many years as Secretary to the Director of Schools before becoming a member of the Anderson County Board of Education, where she served from November 2007 through August 2026. Throughout her career, she brought extraordinary knowledge, thoughtful leadership, sound judgment, and an unwavering commitment to students, educators, and families across Anderson County — from Claxton to Bull Run.

Her service also extended statewide through the Tennessee School Boards Association, where she held leadership roles and received numerous honors, including recognition as a Level V Master School Board Member, an All Tennessee School Board Member, and a recipient of the TSBA Scholars Circle Award.

Jo also played a tremendous role in the planning and development of the new Claxton Elementary School, helping shape a project that will serve generations of Anderson County students.

With nearly three decades of service — including 19 years on the Board of Education — Jo Williams leaves a lasting legacy of leadership, service, and dedication to public education.
On August 13, 2026, the Anderson County Board of Education wholeheartedly and unanimously expressed its deepest appreciation and sincere gratitude to Jo for her remarkable service.

Thank you, Jo Williams, for your years of commitment to Anderson County Schools and for the lasting difference you have made in our community. ❤️

Congratulations to Bri Alpers and Gabby Wolfe! These ladies were granted funding from The Anderson County Civitan Club.
This grant will help kick-start our newest project-based learning (PBL) initiative: opening a coffee and dirty soda cart that will be operated by our students. This project will integrate work-based learning into our STEAM initiative at CES and provide students with meaningful, hands-on opportunities to build valuable vocational and life skills.

Congratulations to Claxton’s 4th grade math teacher, Miranda Bowman for completing her computer science endorsement. Expanding knowledge about computer science helps to support all of our STEAM emphasis. Way to go Mrs. Bowman!

💙 The First Day of School is tomorrow! 🐾

We’re excited to welcome our Cougars back on Monday, August 3rd! We can’t wait to kick off another amazing school year!

Here are a few important reminders before the first day:

📚 Kindergarten Families: Please check ClassDojo for your child’s staggered-start schedule for the first week of school. You can call the front office if you aren’t on Dojo.

🚗 Morning Drop-Off: Doors open at 7:20 AM, and breakfast is served from 7:20–8:00 AM.

⏰ School Start Time: Students begin going to classrooms at 7:45 AM, and the tardy bell rings at 8:05 AM. Students arriving after 8:00 AM must be walked into the office and signed in by an adult.

📅 Early Dismissal Wednesdays: Every Wednesday, students are dismissed at 1:30 PM to allow for teacher professional learning.

‼️ Transportation Changes: For the safety of our students, we cannot accept transportation changes over the phone. Changes must be submitted by the parent/legal guardian in writing, in person at the school office, or you may email [email protected]. Requests received less than 30 minutes before dismissal may not be accommodated.

🚫 Early Checkouts: Because the last 30 minutes of the school day are focused on safely dismissing students, early checkouts and transportation changes are not available during that time. Please plan to check your child out by 2:30 PM (or 1:00 PM on Wednesdays) if an early checkout is needed.

🏫✨ Nurse Brittney and Nurse Chelsey enjoyed touring the new Claxton Elementary School this morning! They loved getting a first look at the new building and are excited for all the memories that will be made here when the school opens next year. 💙🍎🩺
