The fall vibes are nearly upon us, and what better way is there to welcome the new season than curling up with a good book? There are book clubs for bookworms of all ages to chat about favorite books or to find new reads to enjoy discussing together across the county. We had a lovely storytime and art session with local children's book Illustrator Daniel Wiseman at the Sequoyah Branch Library! It's always a joy to have a local creative mind helping our young patrons grow. Thank you for always being a friendly face at the library and showing kinds that they can achieve their dreams of having their name on a book one day, too. We are deeply saddened by the loss of a Tennessee icon today. Dolly Parton had a dream to foster early childhood literacy, which she grew from a local Sevier County program in 1995 to a global operation that today operates in five countries and mails 3,000,000 books for free every month to children from birth to age 5 with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Dolly accomplished so many amazing things in her life, and now it's our turn to carry on her dream of lifting up children to bring them a better future. While we are devastated to no longer have your wise words, we will always love you, Dolly. Rest in peace. 🦋

We had an amazing group of all ages at the Sequoyah Branch Library making fantastic book totes to haul their library finds! Arts and crafts aren't just for the kiddos—moms, dads, aunts, uncles, older siblings, and even grandma and grandpa can have fun at the library flexing their creative muscles and socializing with friends. This summer, filmmakers were invited to reimagine our history through film. With licensed access to selected TAMIS archival footage, entrants remixed, altered, and augmented to create short films that captured the theme of, "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Submissions screened during the East Tennessee History Fair on August 15, 2026 at the Tennessee Theatre. Check out how our contestants did here:
