One last very hot afternoon today for much of the Tennessee Valley with heat indices soaring above 100 degrees. A cold front arrival later today, may bring strong to severe thunderstorms to the region during the afternoon and evening hours. Damaging winds are the primary threat, along with isolated flash flooding.
-Heat Index values above 100 for much of the Valley with portions of the Central Valley and Southeast Tennessee seeing values reach or exceed 105 degrees. See Heat Advisory.
-Strong to severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon into the evening hours. Damaging winds and isolated flash flooding are the main threats. A spin-up tornado, as well as small hail, cannot totally be ruled out.

-Prioritize Hydration: Drink plenty of water throughout the day and during the games.
-Dress accordingly: Loose fitting and light colored clothing can help.
-Shade and rest: Take breaks from the sun and try to stay cool.

-Multiple rounds of strong to severe storms possible this afternoon and again tonight.
-First round, if it occurs, would impact primarily southwest VA and northeast TN during the mid afternoon hours.
-Second round would be a line of storms area wide late this evening and into tonight.
-Damaging straight line winds and isolated flash flooding are the main impacts.
-An isolated tornado can't be ruled out, but the threat for that appears to be primarily north of our area.
