For French Broad River flooding and Tributaries including Boyd’s Creek a respite receiving area has been set up at 122 Boyds Creek Highway. This is a safe place for families to gather. If you have received notification to evacuate, you can locate to this location. Mandatory evacuations are beginning to be issued in low lying areas.

Sevier Co EMA: Due to flood waters from the French Broad, Pigeon, and Nolichucky Rivers, Douglas Lake will be rising to near full pool level in the next 24 hours. In addition, Douglas Dam will be discharging significant water. Residents and property owners on Douglas Lake need to ensure all docks, boats, and items are secured. Residents living along the French Broad need to secure items near the river and have a plan to evacuate if needed. Deerfield Mobile Park and the lower-side of Binginham Island Sub. are under evacuation orders at this time. For updates, go to sevierema.org or official Sevier County EMA social media accounts.

Effective immediately, A burn ban has been put in place for Sevier County until otherwise posted. The difference is in addition to prohibiting debris burning, this ban includes camping, warming, and cooking fires, (not powered by gas) and we are including fireworks.

Fines for violating a burn ban increase and will include potential jail time.

Please do your part to protect Kodak and Sevier County. NO BURNING!

Sheriff Michael R. Hodges, Jr. would like to invite you and your family to join us for “The Sheriff’s Shindig." The Sheriff’s Shindig will be held on September 12th from 5:00PM-7:00PM at the sheriff’s office (106 W. Bruce Street). For those of you who have attended our Spooktacular Block Party before, this event is similar to it but without an overload of candy (don’t worry, we will have some). We have had several people ask and yes, we will still be hosting our Spooktacular Block Party on Tuesday, October 31st! Sheriff Hodges is hosting “The Sheriff’s Shindig” as a way for our sheriff’s office family to get to know and fellowship with yours. Food and refreshments will be provided. You won’t want to miss this!

SFD Conducts Rope Rescue Technician Training

Northview-Kodak Fire Department firefighters along with the Sevierville Fire Department completed a week long 40 hour Technical Rope Rescue courses taught by SFD’s in-house Rescue 3 International Instructors. These firefighters learned the skills required for safe rope rescues and patient care in various scenarios from low angle over a bank, high angle and high line rescue skills. These are valuable skills in real-life situations.
