"Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?’" - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
In 2023, the United States will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 16. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service in order to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
The perennial theme is “Remember! Celebrate! Act! A Day on, Not A Day Off!” Dr. King’s messages of non-discrimination and respect embody the Coast Guard’s Core Values.
The Coast Guard embraces the different backgrounds and experiences of its service members, civilians, family members, Auxillarists, and the public we serve.
