Today, Sun'aq is host to the diverse peoples of the US Coast Guard, Kodiak harbor, and residents and visitors from other Pacific Islands, Alaska, Outside (Lower 48), Eurasia, Australasia, Africa, and the Americas.

The White House has nominated Mark Cruz, a citizen of the Klamath Tribes, to lead the Indian Health Service. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Cruz would serve a four-year term directing the federal agency responsible for health care services for American Indians and Alaska Natives.
