KOKOMO, IN — In response to flash flooding across Howard County on Saturday, June 14, 2025, Howard County Board of Commissioners and United Way of Howard and Tipton Counties is encouraging residents in immediate need to contact the United Way office by calling 765-457-4357. United Way of Howard and Tipton Counties is leveraging its Information and Referral program to connect individuals in the community to resources available during this time of need.

THINGS TO DO!

Kids Safety Day
Bring the whole family to Foster Park on Sun., June 22, to experience Kids Safety Day. Organized by Kokomo Firefighters Local 396, this event will run from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., featuring a raffle for a boys’ and girls’ bicycle, free bicycle helmets while supplies last, face painting, and more. Explore emergency vehicles. Experience the Kokomo Fire Department’s Smoke House. And take the Junior Firefighter Challenge. This event takes place through a partnership with Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, Ascension St. Vincent, StatFlight, Indiana Heartland Federal Credit Union, and the City of Kokomo.

Library Carnival
Step right up to the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, 220 N. Union St., On Mon., June 23, for an afternoon of fun, games, and tasty popcorn! From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., no tickets will be needed to play every game at the most magical library around. This program is designed for children ages 3-13.

Sharpie Art at the Greentown Library
Throughout June, the Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., will hold special programming each Monday from 2-3 p.m. On Mon., June 23, discover the art of Sharpie creations. Learn to use Sharpie markers and alcohol to design unique, one-of-a-kind accessories.

Art Therapy for Adults
Brooke Komar, a board-certified art therapist and licensed mental health counselor, teaches to channel emotions into the art-making process. On Mon., June 23, from 6-7 p.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, 220 N. Union St., participants will explore life edits. Join the waitlist for this program by visiting www.khcpl.org and clicking on Events.

Card Creators
Stay connected with friends and family with a handmade card that shows you care. On Tue., June 24, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and from 5-6 p.m., at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road, participants will make three greeting cards, plus a card to donate to Samaritan Caregivers. Join the waitlist for this program by visiting www.khcpl.org and clicking on Events.

Teacup Bird Feeder
Join the Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., on the Wed., June 25, from 10-11 a.m. to create a teacup bird feeder. Transform a teacup or saucer into an enchanting bird feeder. This DIY craft is a perfect addition to your outdoor space.

Blood Drives at Solidarity
Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union, 201 Southway Boulevard E., will hold a blood drive on Wed., June 25, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Schedule your appointment by clicking here.

World Art Wednesday
Join the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, 220 N. Union St., on Wed., June 25, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. to explore art inspired by cultures from around the world, introducing young artists to diverse artistic traditions, techniques, and materials. This week, participants will explore African Kente prints and patterns. This event is designed for children ages 8-13.

ColorQuest
Join the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, 220 N. Union St., on Wed., June 25, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. for a vibrant summer of stories, learning, and fun. Each week, explore a color of the rainbow through engaging read-alouds and activities designed for kids ages 2-6.

Missing Juvenile:

The Kokomo Police Department is looking for the whereabouts of this missing juvenile. The juvenile is described as a white male, 5'8" 135 lbs, brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone having information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Kokomo Police Department at (765) 456-7017.
